Memorygirls - Make Do and Mend

Actually I did a bit more as after I'd had a nice cup of tea I went up on the roof & measured the glass & then did a bit of tiling.
So today's plan is to go & buy the glass (hopefully to fit it tomorrow- bit of a challenge in itself I think) and then back home for grouting, more tiling & shouting at DDs to put their clean clothes away, before driving them & GS to Bridlington to stay with their Grandma for a few days, leaving me blissfully uninterrupted tomorrow.
I've already been downstairs & made choc chip cookies at DD2s request, I shall try not to eat them. The reason I did it so early was due to my new toy. I got an energy monitor yesterday & I'm now watching every kwh we use. It made sense to bake the cookies before cheap rate finished at 8 am. It was a bit of a shocker though realising my old inefficient freezer is costing me £200 pa to run when an energy efficient one costs about £40.0 -

Ebay -thought I'd try a cheap one out first. It's not ideal as it doesn't let me put two prices in for having a night tariff as well but it certainly lets me know when I'm using too much.0

I think an energy meter would scare the hell out of me! We'd end up going back to candles.....It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0

I may yet do that!0

Memory Girl - yes I do poledancing but not for money (OMG that sounds worse!!) but for keeping fit. It's honestly the best exercise I've ever done (and I've done a lot in my time
). I went through a bit of a bad time last year, lost all my self-confidence and 'fell' into it by accident and now I absolutely love it. It's done wonders for my self-esteem and I have toned up all over too. I would definitely recommend it so long as you don't mind getting covered in bruises and feeling battered most of the time. Seriously, it's great.
i wanna i wanna i wanna - apologies but my shift key has now gone on this computer:D
I've been off the last 3 days so me and my 6 year old DD have been having days out - trying to do it in a bit of an MSE (or should that be Memory Girl?) kind of way. Went to Leeds Castle on Monday - expensive to get in (£27.50 ) but our tickets are valid for the year and as it's only 20 mins from us we can go back loads of times in the next 12 months. Same for Museum of Kent Life bought yearly tickets so we have always got somewhere to go. If we take a packed lunch with us it can be a totally free day out. Speculate to accumulate....
i've done the same at the local deer centre fo rmy boys. with a picnic we can waste whole days out n about. play parks, wolves, deer, birds of prey - just up their street.
Today was great though - we drove to Whitstable and I introduced the DD to the joys of charity shops. We had a good rummage through, she bought a couple of bits that she loved (I call them tat) and I bought a couple of skirts as I am seriously lacking stuff for work. We had a quick paddle in the sea and walked along the seafront for a couple of miles. It really was a lovely day. I think I'd like to live in Whitstable....
Your influence must be rubbing off though because as soon as we got in I cleaned the bathroom, cooked dinner, put DD to bed then tackled my HUGE ironing pile and looked out a hummous recipe. I eat it everyday, it seems silly to buy it when it's so easy to make.
in homers immortal words "hummous Mmmmmmmmmm". when you cost it out it really does cost pennies to make - but nice cheap and tasty protein dish
Must get to bed now though as I am completely shattered!
not suprised, it sounds like you have had a day and a half - although i know the most important thing is to keep on writing, there is part of me that feels very lazy just sitting at a computer all day - lol

There were only pink ones left - but he likes them and has noticed that pink 'is a good boys' colour'. I suspect I might have caused 6 years of therapy today - work for my frieds on here.
lol :rotfl::rotfl:. thats like ds1 explaining to his south african family that a lot of aunties are uncles :rotfl::rotfl:. if you think thats weird, remember that i used to work at madame jojos in soho iyswim
I am going to concentrate completely on the popular book from next Tuesday till the end of August. Going away for three weeks and have promised myself that I will only wirte, run and play with little boy and OH.
Keep well, motivated and focused - the universe is with us.

think i might take a leaf out of your book - if you'll pardon the pun - and develop a magnificant obsession for a few weeks. to concentrate on writing and collecting the bits i need for my home makeover. then when the first draft is done, develop a mignificant obsession for decorating..............
................ that way i can blitz the house in the second half of the 100 days

Hi MG and everyone.
I have finaly been to the library today and got a copy of the secret; have been total ingrossed most of the evening and have managed 2finish the book from start to finish. I am now busy trying to think positive thoughts and write down exactly what it is I want from the universe; in a way that isnt sending mixed messages. It all seems soooo simple when you actualy think about it its so true.
ooh - keep an eye open for when things start to move and let us know. theres been some really cool stuff happening here recently
For example without knowing at the time im sure me and Mr Pink actual orderd this house. We spent sooo long thinking of our own place and saying one day that when we actualy stoped thinking one day and putting wheels into motion we found this place in the 1st days of looking and got it at a reduced price that fitted our budget exactly. The Lady that sold us the property left loads of stuff behind (Curtains, Fridge frezeer ect). I do genuinly believe that this house was bought 2us!
just be carfeul that you are very clear what you order - otherwise you end up like me living in a building site for 2 yrs cos i forgot to order up a fully renovated property in sw london under my budget:rotfl::rotfl:
So this has given me the boot i needed to start focusing on what it is I want for us and to believe that it is going to happen (how who knows; its not my part - but im really lookingforward to the journey!!)
I feel so much more posotive than I have in a long time and I believe I have you all to thank for this; its almost as if I was drawn to this thread and I intend to make the most of my new found spirit and outlook.
MG glad 2hear that your plans in the house are coming together and that you are managing to get what you wanted done. Have your boys always been very independant or is it something that you have nurtured along the way? - would love for my DD to be like this and just wonder is there something more I should be doing whilst shes growing up. I do put her down to play with her soft toys and let her have sometime alone exploring them whilst I sit and watch; and I put her in a swing chair whilst I potter doing my cleaning. I try and make sure that I talk to her from where ever I am so shes knows im still about seems happy enough and only really shouts out if I stop talking. Shes is only rather little 4 1/2months but as the saying goes 'start as you mean to go on'
she sounds pretty independant for 4 1/2 months. our headteachers describes montessori in the home as 'benign neglect' starting from birth. you allow the children a lot of freedom to discover their physical limits - amazingly neither of my boys has ever been hurt despite myhouse being less than childproof, no stairgate, no play-pens, no cupboard locks, no soft corners on tables etc. they learn tolive in the real world from the very start.
ds2 tripped over his own feet this morning and went down with a clatter. he picked himself up and said 'roly-poly' and continued on. ds1's bestfriend and his mum were here and she was shocked - firstly that i didn't immediately run over and scoop him up and secondly that he didn't dissolve into fits of tears. btw he does get loads of cuddles - but he tends to climb into my lap when calm or when tired because he wants a cuddle, not because he needs to be comforted iyswim.
so the benign neglect thing is about us parents learning not to get in our kids way whilst they are learning their physical limits, if that makes sense.
anyhow enough of my moider for oneday night xx
ta ta for now

Gosh MG, your thread is such an inspiration.
Just to report in on the 100 day challenge, I have lost 2 pounds in 2 weeks with the help of Paul McKenna's CD (which I read about on here).
I am so loving all the positivity and mental focus and fun on here. If I dont read it everyday I have withdrawal symptoms.
Relationship with DS is much improved. Lots of hugs and chats going on with him at the moment.
We are going on holiday next week so I have been spending extra money on kitting us out with holiday gear but guess what? Just had some lovely holiday clothes loaned to me so that has saved quite a few of the precious pounds which can be put towards spending money now. Thank you, Universe.
