Memorygirls - Make Do and Mend

Good morning people, good morning Memorygirl,
making ciabatta bread but look very strange and liquidy. Is this right?
Memorygirl, how is the writing going? Today I have three things to do:
1) write
2) cook for dinner party (the challenge is three course meal for under £1.50 per person)
3) do my long run (which at present is not very long.
And I am very impressed with your planning - I will have to do osmething about it. My planning is done weekly.

Thanks MG I was going to have a lazy day, but now after reading your meal plan I am inspired to get more organised:T. Off to think about what we eat, and rummage see what we have. I think I may reorganize my kitchen to have more storecupboard space. Will report back later, probably covered in flour, is it just my house, something always falls out when I rummage.Sew it, knit it, glue it, reuse it , don't buy it0

Yes - the mix is VERY sloppy. But trust me - inthe end it comes out as "proper" ciababtta with the big holes inside - just be gentle with it because it doesn't need rough handing like a white loaf does.

I am pricing up recipes - Got 84 main course dinners to cost out - so far I am ony at number 12, but they are getting quicker now I've rustled up a simple spreadsheet.

Always have a planning sesson on a Sunday evening (usually when the kids are in the bath) - sometimes I need to shuffle a "quick tea" in because we have something to do - or we've been invited out or theirs loads of leftovers to use up. But thinking about the food on a bigger basis does help me control costs.
I can't imagine being the kind of person that thinks about food when the next meal has come around - how stressfull / expensive must that be???

Trust me - its not just your house :rotfl:
I wish I lived in a clean, clear, clutter free environment - but I am getting there, one bin-bag at a time.

I'm having a debate with myself.
There's lots of work I'd like to do in the house - but never really get around to it. Bythe time I do the school run there never seems to be enough time to knuckle down and get on with the big jobs. I can cope with the day-to-day stuff, but not the redecoration n stuff.
So I'm thinking - in the 5 weeks that are left of the school holidays I may target one of the rooms per week on a teeny budget and blitz it for the week instead of a couple of hours here and there. Because my plan of doing it piecemeal is getting me no-where.
I'm thinking this because it only took me a full-on day to sort DS2's room, although it was painted to begin with.
What do you think?
Week one: Livingroon
Week two: Kitchen
Week Three: DS1 bedroom
Week Four: My bedroom
Week Five: Guest Room
Then when school goes back
Week Six: Family Bathroom
Week Seven : Office
Week Eight: Form New Bedroom Walls
Week Nine: Plaster new bedroom
Week Ten: Hallway
Week Eleven: Decorate new Bedroom
Which takes me to the end of my 100 day challenge.
Or am I just crazy???

Shaby Chic is down on Moneysaving Old Style Section. It always hovers around on page 1 cos the girls are really busy with their projects and have so much to share.
Good luck with your planning

LOL - I expect it's because they look so innocent! I'm a Christian so I tend to come across all sorts of 'religious' people and they can be far from the stereotypes we get in the media.Memory_Girl wrote: »Actually it gets worse - I was taught to play Poker by 2 Nuns that used to live around the corner from the babysitter I had as a kid.. Took me years to trust them after I discoverred how good they were at bluffing;)

Great about your next £125 too! This is really gaining some momentum.
I never saw it coming so quickly but you seem such a focused person that I shouldn't be surprised.
I've just read your menu planning post btw: how do you find the space for all the food?! I have just discovered AF for myself and may end up having to inprove my storage, LOL. We have a small kitchen and three teenagers! And (sorry so many questions!) could you give me an idea what goes well in lentil lasagne please? I am guessing tinned tomatoes, onion, celery, maybe bell peppers... do you pre-cook the lentils?
Will go and catch up with your later posts - hope I haven't pre-empted anything.Miggy

I knew someone would get there before me!Will report back later, probably covered in flour, is it just my house, something always falls out when I rummage.
In my house, if I spill flour, I can guarantee I'll be wearing black. However I am never wearing the same colour as the fur of any animal I pick up...
I too am working my way through my freezers (2, lucky me) and cupboards. It's saving me loads of cash and I will soon get to the point where I have to start on the ambitious ingredients I bought without taking into consideration what my family will actually eat. I'm working some evenings this week so if I don't plan, the freezers will start to fill up with, well, unplanned stuff again. I have already issued dire warnings about having to eat chicken nuggets for the next six weeks... I think DH's favourite soup might just get made during the day tomorrow, that will quickly distract him from buying!Miggy
