Memorygirls - Make Do and Mend

4pm ....................and everything stops for tea!!
In the end I found an ancient allen key that was a perfect fit - and with a bit of a jiggle managed to get the bed together, matress lifted up and duvet set thrown over. He bounced all over his bed shouting "Igglepiggle!!!!" so I guess thats a thumbs up from the 2 year old.:j:D:j:D
Dismantled the wardrobe and have got it downstairs in pieces and reassembled apart from the doors. Even managed to dig out the shelving unit from under my Dads tools.
Just need a quick cuppa before I decide on the most effective lay-out for the little mans room - then a last blast of energy to get it done (and tick one room off of my "renovate the house" goal).
So far the spend has been nil. Grandad treated him to a "big boys duvet set" and as dug a teeny portable out to sit in his room for playing videos (I know I know!!!!! - but if I'm going to write this book I am willing to trade an hour a day on the video for an hours productive writing.
The room was originally painted a wedgewood blue (£1.00 pot of paint from a shop shutting down) so his bright yellow, blue, green and red soft furnishings look just right............... whether he sleeps in his room in the near future is another little battle:)
Now to choose something rousing to blast through the rest of the arranging of furniture - for a successful - although frustrating - day 98.

Hello Albacookie
Take it you're another Scot? - well not a difficult guess with your user name and the fact that you've dived right in and made stovies -:rotfl:. I don't think I will go back to making them on the stove now that I've cracked the slow-cooker version - Mmmmmm!!! Wonder if I just sneak a box out of the freezer for our tea tonight seeing as DS1 is at his Grans???
Think after the day I've had I deserve an "easy tea" :rotfl::rotfl:. Sorry you had to post just after a rant - sometimes you just need to blast it all out and let it go.
One last push and then I will be able to have a shower - pop the babyto bed - and sit down at 8pm (with a large dirty martini ..................... and Johnny Depp on the telly:D:D)
Woooohoooooo!!! I find my energy is returning:j

Good guess! I live in Liverpool now but from Glasgow originally.
I'm looking forward to my stovies - found Stockens oatcakes in Asda today too :jthey're my fave and I haven't found them down here for ages.
Johnny Depp on tv tonight? That's my evening sorted then!......0 -
Thanks Albacookie about the Bi Carb - Unfortunaeley dont know of any chinese shops but it shows that big bags are out there so l will check on line.
Well done MG - what a day you've had - sounds incredibly successful and fat busting too :j Your little man will love it even if its for playing in at the moment. Has he been sharing with his big brother or you?
Our bedroom looks fantastic - all white bedding and have dressed it with cushions and bears for the first time in about 6 months. Cant wait for bedtime to sleep in it but unfortunaely l am a bit of an insomniac
Have tided up everywhere and hoovered through, and actually sorted some personal bits and pieces out of the drawers. I just didn't look after myselfover the last few years and have gained another 5 stone to the almost 2st that l have been carrying around what feels like forever. For work l would put a bracelet on and the same old pair of earings on but that was about as far as l got.
Today l have found all my little diamondy studs as l have 3 piercings in each earlobe and popped them in. One of the holes had sealed but l was determined to wear them and thankfully after about 5 minutes l finally got it open  Hopefully will be able to sleep in them to save time in the morning.
Running out of foundation but found 2 freebes that l had stuck in a drawer - l reckon l should be able to make them last the week:) so stretch it out a bit more.
Also found some old jewellry that was really sentimental to me that l thought l had lost forever so now wearing a little silver heart necklace my son bought me for Mothers Day when he was about 13 :j Also found some nail varnish so intend to paint my nails and toe nails. That will be a first in about 5 years l think. Have got the scales out ready for a Monday morning weigh in - hopefully will have lost some more weight as l was positively starving last night !
So l would say my first day of my 100 day challenge has gone off brilliantly - also a NSD too.:j
Well off to clear the treadmill as tomorrow am planning to do a bit on there and then pain the nails
Have fun all xxx Moobear:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j0 -

That's a girl after my own heart - just taking a rest from sorting out DS2 extensive video collection (actually 3 families from the school have cleared out their old ones so it seems like we've inherited hundreds).
Defintely on the last lap now - even managed to find a way to tuck the wardrobe behind the door to give him playing room on the floor - its beginning to look like a proper little boys room.
Now I need to transfer his toys from the shelves in the hall to the bedroom cupboards and we are done - Yipee!!!!
Who'd have thought that the littlest bedroom would have taken nearly a whole day??

Wow Moobear - sounds like you have had such a busy day. How lovely to have your bedroom as a sanctuary. I'm hoping with DS2 bedroom now done he will soon move and I can have mine back again. Mine is all very Balinese chic - dark wood 4-poster and cream bedding. Can't wait till it's mine ............. all mine again:D
How great that you've found stuff you'd forgotten you had - my friends refer to this as "shopping from home" - cos someone always comments when you produce something "new" don't they.
Righto!!! Cup of tea finished - one last spurt before tea-time:cool:

Sounds like you have had a manic day memory girl. We did a bit this morning. DH installed the new loft hatch for me, and then took off some boards we had put over the gaps in the bannister to childproof from crawling toddlers. Feels weird for it to be open again, and not have baby gates on, but my 2 year old just isn't a baby anymore and does not need it.
We then took the easy option and went out for a bit this afternoon to a soft play place to get the kids some energy burnt off. The kids have been going a bit stir crazy as we have not been out much in the past 2 weeks with all the DIY stuff going on.
While they played, we brainstormed all the jobs that we want/need to do over the 100 day period, so a nice long list. 1st job completed when we got home (order a new loft ladder.)
At least we now know the extent of the battle. Don't blame you for letting your DS2 have a bit of quiet time with the videos. I have DH here to help me, but i resort to a bit of telly or the computer (cbeebies website) to keep them safely occupied if i desperately need to do something like cooking and i want them from under my feet. No need to fell guilty.0 -

EEek!!! Another DIY job to add to my list - my Dad broke my hatch last time he went up. Think I might have a measure up and see how many Loft Hatches and doors for under the stairs and misc shelves I can get from 1 sheet of MDF - then scrounge some time at the Joinery workshop over the road to cut and router all the components.

My poor wee soul took himself out into the gardenfor some therapuetic digging when the organsing of his room got too much - LOL

Ah!! you got the team involved already - you will be storming ahead. I always think a bit of planning is the most imoprtant bit anyway.

sorry - didn't mean to add to your list. :rotfl:It's driving me mad as everytime i turn around and look in another corner there is something that needs doing. We are going to be busy busy busy. We bought our hatch as we needed a pull down one, and a new loft ladder to pass the inspection for having the new boiler up there. Done now though, and i remembered to order the ladder through quidco.
Your meal tonight sounds really yummy. I did a chicken and veg pie with puff pastry top. It went down well here. The chicken was rubber after i roasted it on Wednesday. We still have more of it left too. More rubber meals needed.0 -
Just popping on to say Hi Memory girl-You have saved my sanity this evening with a good read ( whilst in lurk mode) I admire your spirit.
Bob xBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0
