Well MG you certainly know how to attract the attention of some important people. I am of course talking about Mike. Like you he is another one who found his mojo through the boards and when he means to get things done then Done they are! What a lovely offer to help with your marketing etc. Perhaps there should be a MSE Ltd company for life coaching, developed and staffed by lots of people on here. It could be global in a matter of no time with everyboy's 250 contacts!!

So Mr Big is arriving is he. Should we be scared - I mean, if he is in the country what kind of tasks can we expect to be set this week. I am having visions of lots of MSEers running around the country ala Anneka Rice Challenge style (but please dont expect me to wear a jumpsuit) begging and borrowing conference spaces, hotel rooms, books, pens, etc etc etc.

I am so pleased that things are moving on for you, but even more pleased that you are keeping your boys to the fore of your planning. Go Girl.

  • Hope you don't mind me gatecrashing your forum MG but I could really do with some help.

I am putting this out there to the universe and any MSE'rs. My challenge which has been set by my wonderful boss (;)) this morning is to find out as much as I can about auction houses!!!!!!! (and I don't think he means eBay :rotfl:) The reasoning behind this is he has just bought himself a property which he has decided he is going to turn into an auction house, apparently he needs a new challenge in his life, so it's going to be his (with me doing all the donkey work ) next venture. Oh and bless him he has given me just over 3 weeks .

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Jo xx

The universe and Mr Big are hard task masters!

I have been a graphic designer and up to 2 years ago I was a secondary DT teacher, but had to resign due to ill health. Operations and bouts of illness have punctuated the last few years but I have done websites and traditional publishing both for friends and a little freelance (that's how I knew about permitted work). Due to another bout of illness last November, I came off the scheme.

My confidence and finances have taken a total battering then I found MSE. The humour and support on here is amazing, that is why when one of the most helpful people on this site shouted for help, despite my doubts in my value, I stepped up to the plate, by PM, I still lack confidence.

MG was very supportive but she's very busy so we haven't really got started on her flyers/posters. However, that gave me the confidence to contact Lucielle and clairewop when they asked for help (by PM of course, still not that confident :o)

Then along comes Mike, the universes way of booting me into action again. I know from all of your comments that he is respected and valuable member of the forum and I finally understand "Mikes Mob". I will look out his diary later. The 30 day challenge I chose was to create an income stream. This I'm sure is to remind me that I can't hide away in my ivory tower and expect work to come to me.

Whatever MG decides to do, business is business after all, I've finally stuck my head above the parapet and, as well as following this thread and contributing were I can, I will be starting my DFW diary.

Right, off on my play date now.

    Have a brilliant day all,

    TGR

P.S Apologies for long post :o

P.P.S. Mr Big? At yours? Monday? How brilliant and scary!

Anyways i've got up this morning, no sandwiches done for school dinners, dishes everywhere in the kitchen, living room looks like a bomb has hit it. So before I can do anything constructive like more decluttering sorting beads etc, i've got to spend ages getting the house tidy again :(

    sorry for the rant :(

How old are your DS's? Are they old enough to make their own sandwiches for school each evening. You can do the 'carrot' approach where there's a range of toppings and can pick their own. I had a sandwich making routine, and also had people clear the decks in the evening ready for breakfast in the morning.

I used to have the dishes everywhere problem, but it is possible to get them to clear up as they go. If you've got a dishwasher the rule was they went straight in there.

Otherwise what worked for me was the family blitz approach. i.e. If everywhere's a mess at night or in the morning, everyone mucks in to help clear it. 5 mins of quick blitz by 4 people does clear the inital debris, and normally there should be 5 mins in the morning if it gets missed the night before, if not set the alarm 5 minutes earlier :D
