Could you make up a colourful brochure of your jewellery with a "cost" price and recommended retail price and do a mail shot to a selection of shops in your area and then follow them up with a phone call? Personal calls are usually the easiest way to get business though.
Have you read the book Feel the Fear and do it Anyway? Highly recommend it for you to help with your confidence. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: MG, I'm sure you're still just as cheeky - embrace it!
(and will your flyers have mind maps on them?? All course details radiating out from a nice colourful centre?? I'd pick one up!)
Speaking of which - if you're going down the university idea... I'd be happy to stick up some posters - generally hang around at 3 different universities (!) so probably about 60,000 students between them! I think the problem would possibly be money for students, I wonder whether it would be possible for you to do a series of short sessions over a day or two, perhaps including a copy of your book?
I don't know what you can do in an hour or two, but if you could do, say, 2x two hour sessions in a day, each with say 20 students (is that too many??), for say £30 or something, that's, er, well, I'm sure Mr Big would probably say it wasn't worth you getting out of bed for :rotfl:(I'd get out of bed for £1200 a day though!)
OR - perhaps larger lecture type sessions, maybe just an hour, for a bit cheaper? As a student I might have paid a fiver (more if it includes the book, obviously), but £30 would have been more than my weekly food budget (er, actually it still is!) so that would have been out. But if you could get 100 of them in each lecture... and if it was only an hour each you could do perhaps 3 in a day...
Lots of towns have two universities, so you could do a day at each...
(sorry, running away with myself there! :rotfl: Should concentrate on my own life not giving 'advice' to everyone else! :rotfl:)
(but do give us a shout if you decide to do something studenty or whatever)0 -

I think a lot of confidence issues Is cause of my disability, I'm afraid that when people see my disability they won't think my jewellery is made to a high enough standard.Boiler pot £30.92/£10000 -

could you teach people how to make a piece of jewellery. U turf up with your box of bits - do a blue peter and then let them have a go at something small, like earings or mobile dangly thingie.
people will pay a premium to "learn how" and make something for themselves - then make sure you keep everyone on your list for doing parties or commission based sales in the future. with lots of pretties on display you can make additional sales on the day - and sell vouchers for a "jewellery experience" too.
we made our bridesmaid jewellery at a party and it was great wearing it on the day because we had all been together making it. bride also commissioned her tiara from the lady who taught us.
great idea if you like the niche - get yourself around to local bridal shop and pop some bits into their display and leave your flyers.
Any other ideas for clairewop/??

Put together some kits and leaflets on a how to do basis,Perhaps how to do a basic tiara ( just in time for prom leavers next year) then a sample of your bespoke ones. Perhaps a You tube tutorial. You can take your time making things and maybe tell your story at the same time:DBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

I have used this method for years and now i read that it is the most recommended and effective one. Put some vics vapour rub or something similar on soles of feet. It works really well, in the same principal that rubbing a garlic clove on feet does- honestly he will sleep well and not have ickky goo all over chest.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

*unlurks* Claire, I just wanted to say that the bracelet I bought from you is beautiful, I wear it all the timeI think you set your prices too low though, I would have paid half as much again, so be careful you're not undervaluing your time and creativity!
