:eek:Nothing yet about the school - it is now a week since their meeting and only 13 days until the end of our term

But as I switched on the news this morning - felt I needed to this morning for some reason the first section that came up was the local traffic report - and the first road mentionned was the road the school is on. Apparently the road is shut today whilst Scottish Water repair a broken mains valve.

I now feel really excited that we will hear today for some reason.:p

Thank you for all your kind words on this thread - knwing I can pop on here when I'm having one of those "yuck" days helps keep me chuggin along just fine.

Will have to have a small spendie day today -out of diluting juice for the kids and diet coke for me - and a lettuce to go with dinner would be nice too.

Yesterdays conference went fab. Make contact with our local head of education again (and reminded him we are homeless very soon) and with the Univerities Schools liason officer who has also given me the name of his colleages across the water where we may be heading.

Everyday I keep plodding on with the intention that we will indeed find a home for August - I can't believe our school will shut for lack of a building.

Noodle salad for lunch I think - and finally our gnocchi tonight (Granny made the kids pasta salad for tea last night as it was later when I got in) She also stacked up their sweetie jar ( you gotta love grandmas :j:j)

Off to transfer my daily £4.13

Oh and CM - I've answered your PM

    :T:T - I second the above.

The Montessori method is excellent, the universe needs more of these schools not less.

My DS goes to a fantastic primary school, and although it is state run, the headmaster is older and a real character, think Robbie Williams, in 'Dead Poet's Society', and he does his own thing. He has done a wonderful job, along with the other teachers, in developing each child's abilities, confidence and respect for others. He expects the best of all of the pupils and he gets it, even from pupils that the Social Work Department have sent to him because other schools can't handle them.
I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.
  • Hi MG - glad your conference went well. I got my copy of "The Secret" from Amazon on Monday and read it through and realised that I have been thinking in totally the wrong way so every time I have had a negative thought (as in I won't overeat/overspend whatever today) I have been changing it to I want to eat healthily/keep within my budget etc. I am VERY cynical and tend to think stuff like this is mumbo jumbo BUT - since Tuesday:

a client who I thought would never pay me for some work done AGES ago sent me a cheque with a thankyou note!

I won a Philadelphia Cookbook in a competition

I made some cupcakes for DD1's fundraiser this morning and decided to scribble "Jane's Cakes" on each box with my mobile number and so far I have had four "paying" orders and 2 enquiries!

I trawled round the house for stuff which I had bought and which I either didn't want or was broken and took it back to the shops where I had bought it and manged to make myself £80 in refunds!

    Thanks Memory Girl!!

Hope you get some news about your school soon - where is "over the water"?

    Enjoy your gnocchi!

Aw!! Thanks knitwit - heres the update from Thursday -where did the time go to??

Not so nice thing that happened - local joiner spotted me going out all suited and booted for the conference on Wednesday and texted to invite me out for lunch which is OK, but not long ago did some work for my Best Friend an he was just back from his honeymoon:eek: Erm!!! that will be a NO then:cool: What is is with men who think that Single Mums must be desperate??? In fact the opposite is true - the reason I'm on my own is that I haven't found anyone yet who is GOOD ENOUGH to be let near my boys.

Nice thing that happened - Clootiesmum came for a visit and a cup of coffee and a chat.

Nicer thing that happened - she came bearing a lovely table for the new school, a coat stand and LUVERLY eggs from her clever little ladies.

Nicest thing that happened - the head of our Education Service called the school on Thursday to say that he is "being kicked politically from on high" to make sure that the school stays in our region and doesn't move across the water:j We are meeting him on Friday to find out what property other than closed down schools that he may have on his books. He is now officially my favourite person on the planet:A

So in a very round about way I was right to get excited on Thursday - what I am programming for with the other school is "this or something better" - here's hoping that the reason the first option is stuck is that there is something better (and much more local) coming to us.

Found a nice grey skirt and a black and white wrap top from my wardrobe to get ready for the meeting (as he has already seen me in my wrap dress from Wednesday)

    All very frugle I'm sure

Wow spendaholic - I guess it was worth the cost of the book then :rotfl:

I love it when you hear "real stories" about positive attitudes working - helps me stay the course when I'm having a so-so day. I know exactly what you mean about putting your focus in the wrong place - I'm working hard on stopping focussing on being skiint and focussing on being very grateful for every penny I can divert over from my current account towards our future. I've got to make sure I keep my lucky gratitude stone in my pocket to keep me focussed.

Way to go on the cheque - but especially on the cupcakes. A little budding sideline there I hope. I used to be pretty crap at making sponges, but got a LIDL electric whisk for £1 in one of their clearance sales. Now I use the standard

    4 oz SR flour
    4 oz Marg
    4 oz sugar
    2 eggs

Beat on high for three minutes - and they always turn out perfect.:T So much so that in 11 weeks I am now know as the best cake maker for the class:cool:

I've cleared a corner to start stacking ebay stuff - and am planning to create a "crafting corner" to start turning my stash into stuff to sell in the future. I want to make

100 product lines - selling for £125 over the next two year(three Christmas seasons I hope) which would pay 10% of my mortgage off

So each product line needs to sell £62.50 per year

So for example my kindy cooking aprons sell for £3.99, so I need to sell 17per year or 33 in total.I have already cut out a pile of aprons - and am eyeing up a craft apron patter that I quite fancy.

Any other ideas for stuff I could sell at a party=plan style party in the run up to Christmas?? I'm thinking some swedish style Christmas stockings and stuff????

    From little acorns etc

    Happy Sunday my friends
