Hi Cheery Daff I am a PhD student too, but just one year in. Sounds as if you're really close, almost at the top of the mountain. Gaze down and see all that wonderful work that you've done. Amazing!
Firewalker was talking about common mistakes we make on her thread, undervaluing what we have achieved has got to be one of the big ones for me. So here's to giving ourselves more credit for those scary huge challenges we have already overcome, as we look to those coming up now :T:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -

My book has arrived - thank you MG
Can't wait to get reading......darn and blast my day job keeping me from it :rotfl:0 -
Mine is here as well!
Thank you hun, and I'm keeping the envelope as it has a huuuuge gold post stamp on, a symbol of the the abundance this book brings to my life.
Love the idea and practicality of a small notebook to record the steps of the challenge, could be done as mindmaps? and so easy to have a quick update when away from my laptop!

Having already done a brainstorm recently of my perfect week, I decided today to put it into "words" rather than just a list, ie not an essay, but proper paragraphs describing my week from start to finish.
1857 words later, and I reached the end of my perfect week with "Life is good". Once I started, I found it very easy to do and the words just flowed.
What I was then finding (not sure yet whether this surprised me or not) was that as I was typing things out, I was already working out in my head how I could make the changes necessary to achieve each element of my perfect week.
It seems that I am a lot closer to achieving a lot of the components than I might have previously thought - that is quite uplifting and empowering, and I headed out on my lunchbreak with a very positive spring in my step and lightness about my "being", if that makes sense!
So.....my next step is to transpose my "must haves", "don't needs" "could do withouts" lists from random jottings on a piece of scruffy lined paper, into a proper, readable, format that I can work with.
Just remember, everyone who does any of these, that there are no rules over what must be or what shouldn't be on your lists. I know it can be easy to look at what other people are writing about or talking about and feeling that your list, or your wants must be wrong because it is totally different, or doesn't aim as high, or aims too high, etc etc. The whole point of these exercises, at this stage of the challenge, is (I guess, I haven't spoken to the great man himself) to identify "YOU" and only you. Be realistic, be challenging, be a bit scared, but be all of those things on YOUR scale.
£400k may be a target for some, £4000 may be an equally exciting and lifechanging target for others. As long as you are being you, you are doing it right - and if it takes 5 mins for the ideas to flow, or 5 days, that is ok too! And remember we are all working with different "lives" - some with children, some single, some with full time jobs, some with no jobs etc etc etc. There is no "norm" here.
Just be prepared, as I mentioned to buffy before, to be amazed by what you come up with - it is not always what you expect. It can be emotional, give in to that emotion when it happens - it is all part of the process, and it is actually a very positive thing.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Hello all. A lurker here. Found the thread via hypno's thread. Have been reading a bit and sounds all very motivating. Have had time to read whole of the blog now as well but no time to do anything about it yet. Hoping to join you all soon though.
Good luck Memorygirl!DEBT FREE OCTOBER 2012!Proud to have dealt with my debts!0 -
Having read MG's Business book properly this morning, I'm all fired up and have just been wandering around the Victoria area of London looking for some nice coloured pens this lunchtime to help me draw pretty maps
Haven't found the *perfect* ones though yet, lol.
I'm working on my homework from this weekend and have some great personal time management stuff to post here when I can type it up without distractions. I used to date an executive coach who started working with me, then our relationship went kaput, darn him and his urge to two-time me before we'd worked enough on me......0 -
Hey Kittikins, what is it that you do then ? ive just watched the last episode of true blood mm mm yummy eric haha x ive got the student book for mind mapping hopefully should arrive tmz

Lucky me, I've got the student book too
:) I'm one of MG's happiest customers
Sadly, I do a very dull job that doesn't stretch me but just about pays the bills, irritates and stresses me unnecessarily and I've been feeling stuck and depressed for years......*big sigh* However, I'm not furiously beavering away, looking into becoming a virtual assistant as a short-to medium term measure, thinking about studying to be a teacher or counsellor, I want to work with children and generally trying to improve my lot in life whilst retaining some kind of sanity. Here's hoping!
I started writing ideas on the train as I'm in a different office today and had half an hour at a nice big table all to myself and then felt miffed as I only had 2 colours of pen with me and I wanted more, more, more!0 -
