Sounds like a successful day so far Memory Girl.

Another question about the gnochhi, I've only tried it once and they were shop bought and vile _pale_ so, do homemade differ in taste? I think mine do- they are lighter, and fluffier, taste properly of potato instead of "binders" are for some reason when we make our own there are also bigger platefuls:T Then again we could just be greedy:rotfl:
DD & I are mash lovers, so I think it could be great for us, DH thinks mash is the food of the devil so I wouldn't waste it on him.
S'Funny cos DS1 is the same. If I make mince I fill him up on dumplings cos he's not keen on mash ( will eat some but not aheap) and yet he loves, and requestg gnochhi - Kids?? How do you figur them out??

Have you tried the ravioli maker yet?

Not yet - will have to wait until Friday when I get the eggs to make my birthday cake - then we will have carb heaven for tea - :o

Going to have to buy another bottle of milk today - the chalenge monies are getting pretty depleted. Don't think I need anything else though - so bonus!!!

Didn't sleep very well Michelly - there's a lot riding on this move. I really have got no patience.

I think its very like the Cosmic Ordering thing - and I had a couple of Aha!! moments whilst I was reading it. I've realised that the reason I don't ask for things is becasue I don't believe I deserve them. Somehow I've internalised the whole "Single Mums are bottom of the food chain" thing that's prevalent in the media and that I don't deserve to have a nice life.

Now I know all you lovelies are gonig to come back and say "no your not" - but its one of those deep down inside thingies - like your attitude to money, your acceptance to be loved and loving. I'm packing at the school today so I should have plenty of time to reflect and decide exactly what kind of life I want to have - (not the one the media wants me to have) After that then I guess I need to practice asking for what I want instead of just being grateful for the little we do have.

The thing is I used to have a pretty cracking life - and I realise that my babies mean more to me than that life did - but that I'm not serving them by living this little, inward looking, meek and quiet life. We as a family deserve a life full of love, life, adventure, experience and security.

    Good morning MG,

good luck with the school and...I love metaphysics in a very abstract way. Many a time a combination of events clicks together and can potentially change the course of one's life - for better, for worse or neutral. As to The Secret - I will probably have to have a look at the book - it keeps popping up and the Supreme Being of my choice might be trying to tell me something. Have read the website and it sounds very NLP - which is not a bad thing, actually.

As to the whole, 'single mums' thing, six months ago I would have said 'But you are a highly intelligent person and do realise this is all rubbish.' Today, I will only say that if you feel like this it is and the way to change it, Secret or not, is to change the way you think about it, which is bound to affect your beliefs and ultimately the way you feel about it. I have never been very certain about people 'deserving' things - I am not very big on entitlement. But I have always believed that 'impossible is nothing' - the only problem is to decide what the 'impossible' is.

    Take care

Hi, I read the secret a few years ago and it works for me. I always have a big picture frame up full of pictures and quotes of things I want in my life. I did the first 1 about 6 years ago and got most of it. pic of man in field sharing a kiss (now married, living next to a field), china, wanted to travel (been to Hong Kong and into china) dancing (done salsa lessons etc. I do also believe that if you don't get something it may not be the right thing, so I try to have faith and expect something better. It's like when we tell our kids no to protect them but they can't see it's for the best. Memory girl get a picture of a building you want and visualize the kids in it. Keep it up somewhere you can see it, and have faith, you will get your school, they have been blessed with you for a reason.

    Best wishes all x

Finding all this talk of The Secret really interesting. I've also thought you get back what you put out there but am now wanting to rad this book to find out more.

MemoryGirl - you can become who you want to be, not someone who is defined by your circumstances (a single mum). Look at what you have achieved already xx
Trying to do one positive thing (however how small) per day to be mortgage free/reduced and be frugal but still enjoy life!
    Debt LBM Feb 2010 = £7841.97/ now £0, MFW 2011 = £9k in savings
MFW target 2012 to save £11,000 for Over Payments/fill ISA's and reduce lots of things - outgoings, alcohol, waste, weight

Hi Firewalker - you talk sense my dear. I think I've got myself into a pretty negative groove and the only person to change it is the one between my ears. It is pretty much NLP - and in that case I should have been able to do this for myself, but sometimes I think you need to hear it agin from someone else for it to sink in.

Now to think of three "impossible" things to do before breakfast - LOL

Knitwit - I have the picture up in the kitchen (where we spend most of our time). My challenge is the building (although perfect inside) looks like Castle Greyskull from the outside - so I think I now need to re-name it "Tinkerbells Castle". PS I think that dates me quite accuratley.

Definitely going to create something beautiful for my dream wall this weekend though.

Oops gotta run - forgot its chanter practice tonight.

    BAck later

Why don't single mums deserve nice things? I agree that those who sit rather chavvily in front of Jeremy Kyle while chain smoking and recovering from the night before shouldn't, but someone who works as hard as you do for your kids should have twice the rewards of someone like myself who does it with the help of a partner.

I'm realising more and more as my two get bigger how hard it is, and i take my hat off to you for trying as you do. A lesser person wouldn't be trying quite so hard.

Can't wait to see the results for the school. Hope all goes as you want.

And lastly, gnocchi - twas ok. I am not sure it was worth all the effort it took me to make it. I am not sure why it ended up so doughy. My lovely balls made last night were placed in a single layer in a tupperware tub, and when i went to take them out they had all gone back into a big blob. I had to very quickly roll them again to get some dinner on the table as we were very late in. I must be getting better though, as not that long ago i would have thrown the mess in the bin, and sent DH to the chippy. :rotfl:

Loved the sound of the picture of what you want. When i used to teach PSE, one of my favourite topics was something called 'the real game' which we did with our Y8 forms. It was a whole scenario so you got to do things like allocate them a job, but one of my favourite bits was you got them to have a picture of their dream life. What they wanted to own. Who they wanted to be there with (ie partner/children and pets) and some of them were so materialistic as you would expect from a 12/13 year old, but there were also some where there had been a lot of thought amongst the desire for things. It sounds similar but a bit more scientific.

I might try it myself, but there is not a lot i want. I am happy with my hubby and kids. The house needs a bit of updating, but some of that can wait. The only thing i desire is more time to be alone with the hubbie like the pre-kids days. I guess we are getting that when we go away for the weekend. I only want comfort, and excess would probably be too much for me with my current mindset.

    No update yet then MG?

I've downloaded "The Secret" (gift vouchers) as I had heard of this before but you've made it sound even more fascinating. But don't worry - I'm a book junkie & have been known to visit bookshops just to drool.

Also - just a quick question - I'll be up your neck of the woods on Monday - do you want me to drop the stuff off to you for the school (table & glasses) - and if there's anything else you can use, please let me know as you'd be amazed what the garage holds. On a good day the garage even has a car !!!
