Morning MG,
Another lurker here, but I had to post to let you know what an inspiration you are. Your thread is so uplifting and inspiring.
I truly admire your spirit and outlook on life, and you have made me think about my own - i have decided that i can do anything i put my mind too, and have decided to start with getting our home in order. Normally i would pay a contractor to do all sorts of jobs round our house, BUT i have written an exhaustive list of things that need doing form the menial to the "oh my god" and I am going to try to do some of them myself.
So at the moment, i am currently undertaking the repair and decoration of the outside of our house before winter, something i would normally pay someone else to do, but am slowly working at it myself. The job may not be perfect but i can do it! And it makes me feel good to know i have saved money and have the satisfaction of knowing "I did that".:T
Sorry for the ramble, i just wanted to let you know what a positive effect you have on us - in lot's of different ways!
Going back to lurk now!

Sorry guys - just popped over to clear down my pm's - and in between watched the mr men with ds2. had my second cup of coffee whilstdoing so - so i count that as multi-tasking:D
been contacted by a few PHD student sover the last few days - asking if mind maps are ant good to help them do their thesis writing - so here is a copy of the response i have given just in case anyone else wants to use them for creative purposes.
"To answer your question - yes absolutely. In fact these days I more often use mind-maps to get stuff out rather than put stuff in IYSWIM?
The way I do it is: i create the first full A3 colour mind map as an overview of the book - giving the main chapters, sections, headings etc. this is the one i pin up in front of the computer and it acts as my "route map" of the entire writing process.
I then work to create seperate A3 colour mind maps of each chapter or section. these get filed in a folder and whatever one i am working on at the time gets pinned up next to the overview mind-map - so its always in my eyeline.
As i'm writing the "details" under each heading i will often scribble a monochrome mind map on A4 paper to assenble my thoughts - i then type up the info and file the monochrome mind-map in the relevant section in my file.
i'm quite anal about filing each section as its written - because with two boys in the house i find that my precious ideas can get scribbled all over if i don't file them quickly:rotfl:
Hope this helps."
now let me head back and repond to the rest of the posts

Hello Memory Girl,
I have been reading this thread since the beginning when I was completely new to the forum site. I tried reading a few threads and this has become my favourite. I look forward to coming home in the evening to read the latest goings on, and I have followed your story with great interest. Even though this is my first post, I feel following this thread has helped me to feel a lot less lonely and I can see how positive it can be for people. I am now feeling inspired by you to take control and make my life the life I want. I have bought 'The Secret' but I am yet to read it. It's on the 'to do list'! I really wanted to let you know that it is easy to see what a positive impact you are having on the other posters on this thread, but also that there are probably a lot of people like me, following your journey from a distance, and you are making a difference to us too
Keep up the great work!

Waiting to hear the next instalment now. And yes I followed Mikes Doll house thread too and I am waiting to see the finished show. Soon I will be able to say about both of you - I was there at the beginning!
Courgette - I feel for you - hope it happens soon.
When Courgette is in the Guinness Book of Records we can say that about her as well :rotfl:Memory_Girl wrote: »boy - you've gotta love your subconscious!!!!!!!
I dreamt Friday night my son shouted up to me 'mum, there's a giraffe at the door' and I replied 'ok, tell him I'll be down in a minute'. When I came downstairs it wasn't a giraffe but a tall man with a long neck and lips like a giraffes. I wasn't remotely surprised at the fact a giraffe was at my door, but was surprised when I came downstairs and there wasn't one. So what was my subconscious trying to tell me.
I used to have a great book on dreams that I lent out but never got back. It taught you to analyse them by explaining everything in them to an alien who knew nothing of earth. So - what is a giraffe, what is a door etc. The meaning then becomes clear - but not this time.
I had vivid dreams when I was trying to pluck up courage to end my marriage. A lot of roads and canals & narrow boats. Canal was interesting - going on a journey, obstacles in the way (locks) but ultimately it's a safe route, can't overflow or get out of control etc). Best one was turning round a corner and seeing a cartoon cat & dog having sex - and being shocked at how unnatural it was. Turneds out exOH was the dog (domesticated, loyal, safe, bit boring) and I was the cat (bit of a loner, adventurous, came home when it suited, wasn't owned by anyone). I still remember the impact the dream & its' meaning had on me. Oops, TMI
