    Hi Memorygirl, hi all,

after a long digital black out I am back on - and have spent the last hour or so catching up with all that has been happening to you. Honestly - so much has been planned, conceived and achieved in a week. And my main news is that we finally, after a week of bother are connected to the internet.

Apart from this, we have been visiting family (my Dad is not doing too well), I have been writing and have been thinking about the ten steps between an idea and its realisation. I think that I got it (or got something) but now OH is doing the details to it - you know that details bore me terribly. It is hot here and my brain is turning into mash - but still trying.

Have made it my quest here to avoid all negativity - it is rather amazing how deeply ingrained it has become in all of us.

thanks firewalker (you do know i'm gong to end up dedicating this book to you don't you??)

BTW was aiming for 300 pages of 25o words for first edit - today i will be half-way there:T:T:T

    Memorygirl

Good work and of course I'll be honored if you dedicate the book to me. And I believe Scrooge might be right! Did you see her long post on a different thread?

Keep writing, looking after these boys of yours and getting wealthy - in all possible senses of the word. Our Little Boy chose to stay with his Aunt for five days so we are on our own and missing him like hell. More time for writing though.

Hello all, sorry I've neglected you for a few days - got busy with life and decluttering my inbox, and am proud to say I have my unread emails down several thousand!
MG, you remain an inspiration! Keep writing!
Firewalker, I love the way you look at and explain things. I'd never thought of it before but focusing on the solution rather than what I perceive to be the problem is fantastic for finding a way forward.
Everyone else - go hit those 100 day challenges. :D

Thanks Miggy - I find the 'solution-problem' thing useful as well. It is also an old Maori saying "If there is not solution, there is no problem'.

    Yes - do that.

I hope you manage to get in a wee bit of rest sometime over the weekend though.....recharging batteries v important!!

    NPX

Well as it turns out - looks like I will have the whole of the weekend off - and tomorrow too and theh whole of next week.

I walked off the painting the school today

The day was rocking along - 3 of us slapped the first coat of white paint on the dark blue classroom - and it only took us little over an hour to do :j

Broke for lunch - where the Headteachers hubby completely ignored us and any attempt at conversation regarding the planning of the the rest of the day to get everything in a state for setting up the school on Saturday (ie fully painted by friday night)

Spent about 2.5 hours this afternoon glossing the wainscotting around the dining hall (taken from a Rangers blue to sparkling white) with our new classics teacher (lovely guy and had quite a laugh as we completed a really grotty job - he chose to help me because he had worked the previous day with the Headteachers husband and got a bit annoyed at his faffing around). Oh!!! the room looks so clean and shiny it is gorgeous:T:T

By that time the other 2 guys had finished painting the second classroom white (like we did in the morning) - it took them much longer because the headteachers husband (HTH) had spent the entire day "sanding " filled in holes in the hallway. The holes were from 18 coathooks removed and 3 screws in each - in the space of about 2 metres.

We clean up the two classrooms and go to start laying tarps in the hallway so that we can emulsion the tops of the walls and prime the tongue and groove pannelling -all of which we agreed at lunch needed to be done so that we can emulsion top coat in the morning and everyone gloss timber in the afternnon to get everything dry for the weekend.

When we ask him to stop sanding so we can wipe up and and paint he gets stroppy and turns on the sander again "I'm not finished - you can all wait for me"

So I made the mistake of turning the sander off at the wall to explain that we have an hour left of the day - and need to get going because (he) is going out tonight. Instead he hits me.

So of course I am gob-smacked. To do something like that - and in front of 3 witnesses??????? So of course I left and don't intend to go in tomorrow (which I kind of feel bad about because I made a committment to get the school sorted)

As far as I am concerened I am out. The headteacher has a husband that thinks its OK to hit women - she's got a much bigger problem than the fact that there is no way her school will be ready for a weekend move.

My problem is, this is her husband - and she will side with him. Do I go to the police and get them to have a word? - but if they charge him (very likely because there are witnesess) does that then mean his CRB check will show it and he won't be able to work with the kids in the school - which means the Headteacher may just up sticks and move somewhere else???? Leaving us really up the creek without a paddle.

Thing is I believe you teach others how to treat you - and there is no way on this planet I am working with him again. I didn't take that from my dad, my partners and am surely not taking it from some random guy. As far as I'm concerned violence is the deal-breaker.

Sorry for the rant ................ just needed to offload a little.

    MG

BTW got home to a £5 voucher from Mr T's - so a little bit of money flowed my way today (there's always a good thing)

    Hi MG

I am a lurker but had to post. I can't believe that idiot hit you!! You have to report him to the police. There is absolutely no call for that kind of thing. He needs to be taught a lesson.

Of course it is up to you, but I sure know what I would do.

    I hope you are ok.

    Emily xx
  • Actually MG turn this around- Would you want a man who thinks it is ok to hit women to be working with vulnerable young children? I know exactly what i would do! Straight to the police station and he needs a swift reminder on how to behave in public. The bloody cheek of hitting someone who is doing them both a massive favour-they should be round grovelling at your feet:mad::mad:
The other side to the coin is -if they do up sticks and move, their reputation would follow, or rather his.
Plus given that you have all the skills you need, no way would you be without a paddle-take over where they left off! The govt after all have given the parents powers to run their own schools!

Hope you are ok too. xx
Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:

Sorry about your lousy end to a previously good day. What did the 3 guys who witnessed it say ? I would register a formal complaint with the police. What if he did that to one of the children in the school at some point in the future ? Your choice in the end, but bully's need to be stood up to INHO.
