OP I would be careful about chopping and changing your cats diet as this can upset their tummies. I have always found James wellbeloved good for delicate cats. Pets at home frequently have ofers on IAMs if you wish to stick with that.
personally, wouldnt touch either with a barge pole..both full of rubbish, and not at all good for the cat.

There are lots of cat food snobs out there who refuse to admit that popular brands such as whiskas or felix are OK. Forgetting how many healthy animals eat these foods and love them and it keeps them in good health.

Have you tried asking at your Vet? They often have sample packs of different foods for you to try so that you don't have to buy a big bag and end up throwing it away.

Iams use wheat rather than rice which is basically rice with 90% of nutrients taken out. Rubbish stuff. Whiskas 4% beaks bones and claws - derivatives.

As mentioned try Applaws 75% meat chicken breast in fact! or try grain free diets Orijen or Acana

If the OP is asking about Iams & Whiskers he's unlikely to jump to Applaws or Orijen.........

OP IMHO if I wanted supermarket food for my cat I would use Iams. I think Iams is a step ahead of Whiskers & the rest in the supermarket.
  • Encore is Applaws - same company.
Applaws is complete if you follow the wet and dry approach.
Whiskas & Felix are crap - strict carnivores - i.e. meat
Vets are trained by Hills and will always recommend Hills- But maize isn't any good, and soap companies shouldn't be making pet food.
Just because op feeds Iams or Whiskas doesn't mean they wouldn't consider anything but the cheapest.
    PaH Purely is alright stuff
Help me to help you :santa2:

If you wanted super market food why not try encore, feline fayre, hilife and the numerous other foods the markets sell that are better quality and cheaper than iams.

Iams is more expensive than pets at homes purely range, but is no where near the same quality. With Iams and whiskers you pay for the name, that is all, since there's barely any actual food in either.

Sorry to go slightly off-track here, but is Applaws dry really not complete? My cat will only dry food (I've tried her on Applaws and PAH Purely Wet, but no luck). What makes it incomplete?

If you could give us an idea of your budget and what foods you've tried there's a lot of people on the bored here that are very knowledgeable and can offer advice.

If something is causing her trouble, ie making her sick, I doubt Iams or Whiskas will do anything but aggravate it, there's so much crap in both. As someone said above, I wouldn't touch either of them with a barge pole.

Pets at home have an offer on right now for their purely range, although I believe it's for today only and online only. It's buy one get one free. their purely range is hypo allergenic and has 40% meat.

Will be honest I've never heard of any of them, I feed Royal Canin.
But I thought Iams was the best available in supermarkets.
