Hi, we are going to see Peter Kay next Friday staying at the Mal Maison. Can anyone give me directions please to the MEN, also is there a restaurant in the vicinity (on the way) that does a late afternoon evening special before the show?
Many thanks!0 -

Alberts Shed is in Castlefield, the other end of Deansgate to the MEN, and a bit of a trek from Malmaison also. It does very nice food though, and is worth a visit. You could get the tram from piccadilly to deansgate (nearest station to castlefield), and then if the weather's ok it'll be a ten minute or so walk from Castlefield to the MEN. Alternatively there are lots of chain restaurants on Deansgate near the MEN, the food at the Mal is nice, or being at the Mal you have chinatown nearby, and a fair few pub grub places in the city centre.0 -

which way is China town, I have stayed at the Mal a few times but not found china town....0 -
walk down piccadilly towards piccadilly gardens, turn left onto portland street, walk past the Britannia hotel and Yates' and then cross the road and down one of the roads on your right you will see the chinese arch and chinatown.
Not sure if that makes any sense, you can also get the free bus that goes from outside Malmaison (the number 1 iirc) and that goes through chinatown.0 -
Thanks I think we will take a look along there. Piccadilly gardens that is out of the entrance of the mal and turn left isn't it? Or can i turn right when come out of Mal and head round to Canal Street is it in that area...?0

yep, come out of Mal and turn left and that takes you down towards piccadilly gardens, that's the most straightforward route (to me at least)0

straightforward sounds good to me! Looking at possibly just going for a buffet lunch - Peking Court...... have you been (thats if you are from Manchester!)0 -
Might have been, name rings a bell, seem to have tried most of the places in Chinatown at one time or another
most are of a pretty reasonable standard to be honest. 0
