It depends which station you are arriving at. Piccadilly is worth a cab, Victoria is walkable. There is also a free bus (which will take a wheelchair) from Piccadilly which will put you off outside M&S which is very close to the Travelodge. The Trafford Centre is quite a long way from the City centre.

Picadilly to your hotel is a bit of a run. I would suggest that in your circs,it isnt a walk although it is gently downhill most of the way. Probably best to get a cab?

When you exit piccadilly ,you will see a nice big taxi rank full of black cabs.

I beleive there is a bus service to the trafford centre either 100 or 110 from Shudehill interchange. Not sure if it passes the hotel or stops there? Check with reception.

Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

    Enjoy your time in Manchester

The Trafford Centre is on the far outskirts of the City Centre - certainly not walkable and no train/metro. I don't use Public Transport much but the impression I get is that the TC is difficult to get to without your own car. There will be a bus - and there are a lot of low level buses in Mcr for wheelchair users - but not sure how practical it would be for you.

The Arndale centre is in the city centre - not as big as the TC and not as many 'designer' shops, but may just suit your needs better?

You can get the 250 bus or the X50 to the trafford centre from piccadilly gardens. :D

Thanks StClair! My Public Transport knowledge is woeful!

As for restaurants.......despite a life time living in the suburbs of Mcr, no I can't recommend as I usually eat elsewhere except for Chinese. That doesn't mean they are all rubbish though.

There is a china town in the city centre. Plenty of places to eat also on Deansgate ( a long main road). There are the usual chains about such as Bella Pasta, Cafe Rouge, Zizzi's, La Tasca.........Why not have a look on MSE to see if anyone is running any offers / vouchers at the moment?

Anyway at least I've bumped you and perhaps someone else can recommend......

Just had a look on Googlemaps as to location of Travel Lodge Central - it's on Blackfriars isn't it? Blackfrairs is at the top of Deansgate so plenty of places to choose to eat from. And yes - definitely get that taxi from Piccadilly!

Have a wonderful time - am jealous!
