Always. Its never usually right after dinner though but i always have something sweet i would consider a dessert. Sometimes its a chocolate bar, sometimes fruit, sometimes icecream (last night was bananas and icecream whilst watching X-Men :D im such a child)

The only exception is when i go out for meals i never have a dessert. Maybe im just completely backwards, hehe

OH always wants something sweet after meals - but he will eat a small bit of chocolate, a cookie or a piece of fruit. I don't often make proper dessert unless we have people to visit but there is usually cake around. When I was a kid, we only had dessert on Sunday.

He was taught to clean his plate too (which I can't do, I'll stop if I don't want it) - but he cycles 8 miles a day, so there isn't an ounce of spare flesh on him lol :)

  • Always have a pud, it is a nessecity for me:rotfl:, i never feel like i am satisfied untill i have had something sweet, but i never used to be like this and i think it stemmed from when i was pregnant and gave up smoking as i always used to have a cigarette after a meal and once i found out i was expecting i gave up that very day so i must of sub conciously replaced it with a slab of cake or ice cream :D

still not smoking 5.5years on but still eating cake:rotfl:

  • Only have a pudding if we have visitors or go out for a meal. Always got fruit in the bowl so may have some fruit later in the evening but wouldn't really class this as a pudding. I do keep yogurts in the fridge for when my grandaughter comes but I never think to give her any other sort of pudding except maybe in the summer when I do buy in ice cream.

When I was growing up we might have a pudding for Sunday tea but rarely after a meal. Mum always said 'If you have enough befores you don't need any afters'.

    I'm still overweight though....

We rarely have dessert, although I do like cakes etc, but i'm more likely to have a cake with a cuppa mid afternoon, rather than eat "dessert" after a meal.

I very rarely have dessert in the evening. If I am hungry later on I may have a yogurt or a piece of fruit, but never straight after dinner.

I don't generally eat dessert during the day either, although do sometimes take some fruit salad for during the day and last week I took a small jelly I made each day (purely to use some things in the cupboard!)

I really don't understand this attitude. Why do people enjoy feeling so bloated that they can hardly move? I prefer to stop eating when I'm full - this is prob why I'm thin and my mum is fat - because she firmly holds with the ridiculous "clean your plate" mentality.

I have to agree with this, I tend to graze throughout the day as I seem to get full on a meal really easily, so the thought of just carrying on eating for the sake of it makes me feel a bit sick. Once i'm full, i'm full and there's no point trying to squeeze more in! (although I don't have much of a sweet tooth, so maybe it's easier for me)

I couldnt believe it when i saw I had 50 replies to my thread!!! obviously a subject dear to peoples hearts!!!! Thanks all for some illuminating and humourous replies! reading them all has been a joy!
I see that the 'nevers' are increasing but the 'always' are still in the majority!
I am trying to decide whether a peice of fruit or a yoghurt or even small peice of chocolate counts as dessert!!!!
keep the posts coming and I might actually do a count later on tonight!!!
