Morning folks - welcome to longtermlurker.
I'm another who hopes to see pen-pen back soon.
OS today is to be inventive with left overs from last night's tea. Actually easy enough - just serve it again.
Need to get some bicarb and vinegar for the sinks and bath. I did get Mr Muscle and it worked well on the bath but I think the plug holes are a bit narrower than we've had before and get clogged quickly with conditioner etc.
Enjoying reading about people's success with salad leaves. We had some last year. I bought a tray from lidl but they got frosted in our v cold kitchen! Need to get some more. My DD and her boyfriend have loads growing on their windowsill and they are really tasty.
Ok, have some reading to get on with today. I have my panel review tomorrow and have to defend my chapter and thesis plans:eek:. So....what am i doing browsing on here? Ahhh but it's so much fun:rotfl:
Take care everyone and (((hugs))) to those feeling low, ill or sad.

  • Hi folks, hope you're all well.

I've not been on here for aaaaaaages!!! Had quite a few projects going on at home and work, and just haven't been on the computer much. Have exams in a few weeks as well so the pace of life certainly doesn;t look to be slowing, but I'm going to get back in the routine of coming on here and catching up with you all. I've lost my way a little with the OS, but feeling really positive about restarting....

Anyway how is everybody? Hope those that have been poorly are starting to feel better and that anybody having troubles are finding some positives.

Have been to a car boot this morning and managed to pick up an umbrella trolley for DS for £10 - in really good condition as well :j we've needed one for a while but I;ve been biding my time on buying and I'm so glad I did now! Also got some trains and track for DS to play with. Not sure whos more excited about this DS or DH :rotfl:The remainder of today will be picking DD up from her friends from a sleepover, going to weigh in at WW tonight (started last week, very nervous!), and some decluttering/tidying.

Enjoy the rest of the bank holiday weekend!

    Afternoon gang,
Hope this finds everyone well, warm and happy.
I can't believe just how cold it is.
Haven' had a chance to get on here-combination of trying to get stuff done, doing a bit of w*rk:eek: and Mark needing to use the lappy:(:(:(:(.
Am getting a bit fed up with never getting anywhere even close to being 10% organised:mad: still I am chipping away at things.
Food wise I haven't done anything special. Had the quiche on Thursday(was determined that EVERYTHING that had to be done on Thursday night would be done by 7.30 so that I could get ready for the debate)

Got a lovely pack of stir fry veg reduced at Tesco far too nice to get put in a stir fry IYSWIM so had them stir fried in a little garlic oil in wraps yesterday.
Today is risotto(Mark is doing that) :j
I am going to have a look through the interesting cake recipes on here later.
The English department have a lovely custom, on every Friday they have a cake meeting where the entire department meet for a hot drink and cake. People take it in turns to bake three or four different cakes on a rota. It was our turn this Friday but due to the small matter of a General Election:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j I have changed it to the following Friday.
I am not planning to go to bed at all Thursday and may not even be at home as I have had a few friends offer me various count tickets:cool: Not sure what I am going to do.

Today I have done all the hot washing and the dark wash so am up to date on that anyway.

Mark will need to use this later so am going to either sort out my airing cupboard or sort out some of my boxes of lesson plans etc(finally have decided they can go-well at least some of them can!)

Pen-pin Hope you are feeling better today.

Donny -Gal Have a lovely trip and thanks for your help with the technology the other night. I told you I wasrubbish!!

TapLady Hope your back improves very quickly.

LadyGrim You remain in my thoughts and prayers.

    Cranky Lovely photo. Take care.

MeanMarie Am still working on my "homework!"

Welcome to our new friends. Its nice here.

Appologies to everyone I have missed out no offence intended.

Hubbue needs my lappy shortly so I had better get a move on.

May be on later depending on himself.

Have a lovely day and take care.

    Hi everyone.

Ann, I'll probably stay up as long as I can on Thursday, the first time for a while as the last couple of elections have been foregone conclusions! This one promises to be a bit more exciting.

Still with the de-cluttering here. I've just spent an hour filing while waiting for DD to come on and Skype. Unfortunately the time window she gave me is just about up so it looks like she didn't manage to get online.

Apparently our American visitors want to sample English food as much as possible (they are having bangers & mash at SILs before she brings them here). I thought that I'd cook gammon, we can have fish & chips one night and maybe roast beef on Sunday, As to puds I thought rhubarb crumble and rice pudding and I have a left over Christmas Pud in the cupboard and I can make a bakewell traybake that I have a recipe for and maybe a victoria sponge. Any more suggestions greatfully received.
  • Thanks for the welcomes. It's freezing here and keeps hailstoning:eek:
We are not watching the election, we are going to watch the alternative election on channel 4 instead;)

Snoozer What about shepherds pie and treacle sponge with custard. Not together obviously:rotfl:

    Afternoon all,

Cold, windy and sunny here, 2 loads of washing done, they are going on the line and I don't care when they dry....think that there are at least 2 more loads hanging round after weekend visitors...think that I might get them all on the line and can then pick and choose when I take them in to finish off drying.

Kerry came home after about 20 minutes last night, she has spent the morning in the car, with doors open....she loves that and at least we know where she is.

Dinner is chicken leftovers from yesterday, there is way too much so will put the rest in freezer for another day, we seem to have eaten a lot of chicken in last week so think that I will take some mince from freezer and make a huge spag bol to-morrow and freeze some of it. Watched someone on tv this morning making a 'sloppy lasagne' by breaking up lasagne sheets, cooking and mixing with bolognese sause and covering with bechemal sauce, sprinkling with parmesan and browning in oven...OH not a fan of lasagne but he might eat that.

Think that I will spend rest of afternoon knitting as not in humour of doing anything really....it is a bank holiday after all!

Hugs to Ladygrim, PP, PenPen, Diva, Taplady and anyone else in need.

    Good afternoon all :D

Can't remember the last time I posted :o I could say it's because I've been so OS I haven't had time, but then my nose would grow and I'd get spots on my tongue ;)

Today I have tidied the freezer drawers. It's amazing how much more room you find when they're tidy isn't it? And I need every inch of my very limited fridgefreezer space. Found some HM ready meals I'd forgotten so a couple of easy dinners this week. In between I played the "washing shuffle" You know, peg out the washing under blue sunny skies. Run out when a big black cloud comes over and unleashes its contents. Peg it all out again because the sky is clear with lovely fluffy clouds. Scoot out again at the next raincloud. It's just come in for the third time and that's that. I refuse to peg it out again, so that should guarantee my neighbours that it will be dry for the rest of the day:rotfl:

Today we're having Swedish meatballs, served with that gravy mix stuff in the packet from IKEA. DH loves it, and I don't think it hurts occasionally. I'll use the rest of the cream in a quiche, so I'm not a total cop out :p

Well I have crafts, books and footie calling me, so a quick browse then I'm off.
Enjoy the rest of your Bank Holiday, and hugs for anyone that needs one.

Hi everyone, hope you have all had a good BH weekend, shame its been so cold, brrrr.
Yesterday DH & I had a nice drive round the Trough of Bowland, and DB and his mate came too,in our old bangers. We wanted to go the week before,as the Lancs Auto club were doing a special 'Drive it' St Georges day thingy, but we needed a spare part and it wasnt fixed in time.We stopped for a bacon butty at a caravan in the Trough, just got there before about 20 bikers descended, otherwise we would have had a long wait.It was so cold though,I jumped into a hot bath when we got in as I couldnt get warm.

Today we went to a antique/collectors fair-didnt buy anything but saw lots of stuff our Mums had when we were young! The prices were

Having roast beef in a bit,and I want to make a crumble too,got some nice Bramleys off the market the other day.

Not been posting much, too busy sewing and gardening-usually read though,so ((((hugs)))) to anyone who could do with one.xx

Having a nice BH here, Friday we went to Locomotion after school. The boys had a fantastic time, they were getting ready for a big steaming gala this weekend. The boys got to sit in teh drivers seat of one of the trains and got told what all the levers did. We ended up being late home so had a ready made pizza from Asda.

Saturday we went to a Geocaching 10 year event - it had a Xmas theme. I felt like an idiot sitting with tinsel wrapped around us! We met some new people and had fun. Yesterday we met with friends for a run round in our local park. Today has been a quiet day as DH doesn't feel well. The boys have done jigsaws and reading, and we had a trip to the local garden centre for some bedding plants and to B&Q for a look round.

Dinner tonight is left over gammon from yesterday - probably as fried rice.

JackieO - Have you tried making lemon curd in the microwave? You can just make one jar at a time that way. The recipe I've used is at http://www.lovefoodhatewaste.com/recipes/show/52-microwave-lemon-or-lime-curd?units=imperial
