Fallen out with my sister, she owes my husband money

I was in this situation about 3 months ago, my friend was due to be my bridesmaid and let me pay out for her dress ect and then turned round and said she didnt feel she could do it any longer because she was upset about her weight and she couldnt afford to pay back the money either.
I understand why you were so furious, it is not just the money it leaves you feeling like you have been kicked in the teeth.
My advice would be - find another bridesmaid. That way the dress and other bits are still in use. If you cant find someone else then stick it all on ebay and re-coop what you can
Good Luck with the wedding! :-)0 -
Seriously, get over it.
Pathetic.
Moreover, you have no leg to stand on either regarding getting that precious 200 quid back as you too have no leg to stand on in court.
If this sister of yours is mental then her actions are hardly sane enough to be judged in or outside a court.

I think this is totally different from your situation, the sister is ill and the op knew this I presume when she asked her to be bridesmaid, I cannot understand why she should be furious with her sister, to me its very sad

Oh dear hun
Weddings are incredible stressful events and I had similar happenings when planning mine 10 years ago!
Try not to worry about the money - I appreciate 200 quid isn't the smallest of sums, however, this is you and your husband to be big day to enjoy....
I also appreciate you are hurt by your sister's actions, however, if she is having a bad time mentally there are these contributing factors to consider so maybe it's best things are just left as they are...
If this helps, I would try and move on, enjoy the rest of the plans to make and enjoy your day... As someone else has pointed out, if you could find someone else to take her place then that could be an option to consider.
Hope it works out for you, try and make peace with your sister one day... I have 2 brothers and have had an odd relationship with them over the years, but I wouldn't be without them, I love them both very dearly, even when they haven't always been there for me...
