How do you stop neighbours hanging on to my wireless connection i have at most time 8 and it is really slowing my computer down

Don't want to show my ignorance, can you explain by what you said turn my wireless off , my router is from sky i have now got 12 people on my connection,

Is it Netgear ?
If it is here is the settings for it.

If they have a helpline i would call them and get them to talk you through the settings. You must have it set to WEP.

How do you know 8-12 people are hanging off of your router, have you logged on to the router to find out? or are you clicking on the icon in the system tray and says Network connections available

I doubt there'd be 12 neighbours capable of cracking WEP unless OP lives in Silicon Valley.

@tisha - how do you know all these people are using your connection? Where exactly are you seeing this?

If the Router supports WPA or WPA2 (and your link suggests it) she SHOULD NOT use WEP.

when i click on the internet access which shows your strenth of your signal i can see names which must be their providers Talk Talk and Kicia

That is just a list of other wireless networks that are being detected by your device. They're not using your connection.

But you do need to ensure yours is secure.
