Your kinda asking how big is a piece of string... i'd view over 500 meg of data usage on any phone per month excessive as at work mostly people only use on their breaks and at home there is wifi to link onto or a PC.

You could browse all day long and never hit 500 meg.. but start watching youtube videos frequently and you'll start to see additional per meg charges on your bill.

Sounds a little low to me. T-Mobile offer a "normal" internet package at 1GB per month, and an Android internet package at 3GB per month.

If all you are doing is web browsing then it should be more than enough. If you plan on viewing YouTube vids or BBC iplayer , TVCatchup regularly then possibly not. Personally I would use something like Opera Mini for viewing the web as its less data intensive. I remember when I was with 3 with their 1GB limit. Even when using the web heavily one month only totted up 40MB of usage using Opera Mini, I mostly read stuff and don't require the full interactive experience of flash, scripts etc.

But having something like the Desire and being crippled by the data cap, won't be a fun experience if you're always worried about going over the limit and possibly stung by out of package data charges.

Why dont you use your wi-fi when at home and only use the bundle when out and about?

I have the phone and just use my wi-fi when at home and im not having any problems with my internet bundle.

    Depends how you use it.

I've got WiFi at home and a WiFi connection I can use at work so I use very little of my allwance unless I'm out and about. So for me 500MB would probably be fine.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

Just be aware when using the works LAN that you maybe subject to the same T&C as if you were using the works computer :o

I've had an HTC Magic with Vodafone for the past 12 months, and can tell you that I don't even come close to reaching the 500mb stage.
The 500mb that you get with Vodafone (and with the Desire) is only a fair usage guideline. This has been discussed to death on the Vodafone forum, and although a lot of people had many concerns when the Android phones first started to emerge, it would appear that no-one has EVER been charged any additional cost if/when they have gone over the guide.

Just be careful though - as the recently announced Nexus 1 has a very rigid 1GB limit - and the Voda Forum Mods have stated that there is a very strong likelihood that anyone with this handset/tariff WILL be charged additional fees if they go over their limits.

    Hope this helps.

500MB should be enough for browsing on the handset. But if like me you use a handset as a modem on a notebook PC then 500MB is not enough.

I had "unlimited" Three internet on a Nokia E71 and the most I ever used was 87mb.

If you use WIFI when at home then rarely will anyone hit 500mb.
