  • I once came down to find an empty bread wrapper. As I had got it out of the freezer the night before for breakfast I was puzzled untill my son appeared. He had eaten the whole loaf! He reminded me that I had told him that if he was hungry he could always eat bread - I didn't mean a whole loaf:o I guess it's just something with the male genes and empty legs

My hubby did this once. I made him "bread sandwiches" for the next day with a little (polite) note explaining. He has never done it since!!

    A man needs to eat.
Just 1 chicken is no big deal - if it'd been a turkey [or something else substantial] I could understand your annoyance, but just a chicken?

Whenever I make a seven litre slow cooker full of soup or curry my Dh starts to demolish it.

I could not understand why the level was dropping until I got down one morning at 7.30 to find him happily scoffing curry.

He will also happily use the last of the cheese in big hunks - or he did till I burst into tears and said that was for tea for a recipe !!!!!

I hope you used the carcase to make soup stock in good OS tradition?

I've a nice pot sitting in the fridge ready for transfromation into soup tonight from our roast yesterday.

Lol at this thread, where do they put it!?

I once made a huge tiramisu, thinking it would last us a while and my OH ate the whole thing, out of the tray with a spoon in one evening whilst I was out!
    I haven't made one since..

Mine does the same, I think they have an extra 'cold chicken gene', see it eat it sort of thing. My sons have yet to display this trait, but I'm sure it won't be long...
    My sympathies

Don't think it's so much a 'cold chicken gene' - rather a 'any food in the fridge that is instantly edible' gene :rotfl: I honestly cannot believe how much food my boyfriend can actually eat in one day.....about the same as I eat in a week!

anyone got a good soup recipe? their's not allot left in the house, some potatoes and carrots mainly, oh and some red and green cabbage and frozen pea's!

I've just remembered I have a pcket mix of farmhouse soup, should I boil the chicken and then use the stock to make the soup? It's definately the weather for soup!

I just throw the whole lot (skin, bones, any scraps) into a big pan with an onion, few peppecorns and a carrot chopped up, cover with water and boil for an hour then seive and leave overnight in the fridge for the fat to rise.

Next day skim off fat, and either freeze or make into soup immediately. Normally I make french onion soup. So chop up loads of onions, fry off till softened, add (nice fresh) stock and boil for a while. Sometimes I put it through the blender other days I don't, just depends how I feel. If you've got picky eaters blend it, it looks more like canned soup and they are more likely to eat it!

Serve with bread and grated cheese to sprinkle on top (it melts into the soup and is gorgeous)
