You don't change basic attitudes at my age. And, with respect, you know nothing about the circumstances that led to my bankruptcy.
I would bet it's your 'basic attitude' (or VERY basic intelligence) that got you where you are now. For God's sake! No-one will even give you £750......wake up and see why!

If you don't want to be patronised, then try to act like an adult.

You really are a self-righteous lot! I asked a simple question, in case I hadn't thought of something. What do I get? A lot of zealots who believe that not having money is somehow virtuous, and that owing money or being made bankrupt is the most heinous of sins. I have no intention of subscribing to that view. You've made various guesses at my age, don't know why. Just so you know, I'm over 60.

Anyway, the thread is getting very repetitive. I, for one, am giving up on it.

And, BTW, woody01, you are very close to being abusive.

£750 loan is a small loan to you - to me it's loose change.

I would give you a loan of it but don't know if I would get it back so will probably just splash the cash on a little toy or something instead.

No, being a bankrupt isn't the most heinous of crimes; if you learn from it. Which you seem proud not to have done.

    Hi,

Whats wrong with your car? Have you considered fixing it yourself? What sort of car is it?
I have a lot of problems with my neighbours, they hammer and bang on the walls sometimes until 2 or 3 in the morning - some nights I can hardly hear myself drilling ;)

But even closer to the truth.
If you don't want to hear facts then why ask the question.

If you are over 60, i am suprised that you still have the attitude towards finances that you currently hold.
  • Judging by that attitude probably a pikeey

I have to agree, in so far as the attitudes on this web site are the worst I've ever seen.
I've never come across a site where if you post looking for help you are so likely to be shot down.

I'm not saying that I agree with the OP or anything but I do live in a small village in the middle of nowhere. There's a bus once an hour or something. There are no trains or other public transport.
The nearest train station is miles away in the opposite direction from my work.
I work shifts that public transport does not cater for.
I've walked to work in the past when I've had to and it's not even that far - 40 mins good power walking but it's a pain to rearrange childcare for this earlier time AND sometimes I NEED a car to drop my daughter off at nursery 10 miles away!

I've had car repair bills in the past of up to £700, so don't understand why people are questioning that either?

I'm sorry I don't have any advice for your OP though sarah_85

I can buy a working MOT'd car for less than £500. In fact, here is a car with 12 month's MOT for £499 http://www.gumtree.com/london/60/58099160.html and I can find other as low as £250.
