Anyone know anything about paternity leave? Do you have to take it? I can't afford to is why I ask

I've decided to become a hermit now and never set foot outside DFW again....wow, it's nasty out there! I've never cried in frustration over a few words on a computer screen before, but this kept me awake most of the night, and I've been churning it over and over in my head all day. I've been having palpitations and my head is pounding :(

So enough is enough, I'm not going back on that thread, not even to see what we are being accused of next (I *gasp* touched the lads arm in a concerned, motherly sort of way when I was checking he was okay - probably shouldn't have done that either, goodness knows how THAT would be seen). I'm staying here where it's safe!

I remember the 'throwing bricks' thread and the 'fag smuggling (but not really)' thread and was quite shocked at how nasty some posters can be....and these are not newbies looking for a bit of troll action, some of them are long term, prolific posters who really should know better.

Ahhhh.....lovely DFW.....a safe haven in a cruel cruel world  :D

Hiya, there's quite a good link about paternity leave here

It's quite long and there's a lot of info on there, but it's laid out fairly simply. I don't think you HAVE to take it though, but it's good to know what your options are.

Don't you just love how imaginative children are. I loved the idea of the cat turning into the nurse, and oods under the stairs! Fantastic.

Snaggles, don't worry about the other thread. Was it the cyclists fault? I am assuming they don't have insurance? ggr indeed. Best of luck with that.

Have you got everything now? Bag all packed for hospital?
    chev

I almost daren't say it but *whispers* yes, the cyclist was at fault.

Yes, both bags are now packed :j and tucked safely in the bottom of our wardrobe - I can't believe how much stuff you need, I look like I'm jetting off to Spain for a fortnight instead of just popping in to give birth lol!

Grrr, having a bit of a hard time on the insurance board - only went on there for some advice about the cyclist crashing into our car - somehow it has turned into a 'lets accuse Snaggles of running down a kid on a bike' free for all :(

I know we weren't at fault but obviously I'm not explaining myself well enough

(I'm probably over-reacting, but  )

Snaggles, give us the link and Ill go and sort them out for you! DFW is by far the friendliest board I have ever been on.

Lol Lenny, ever the gentleman, thank you! Don't worry though, I'm not going to let it get to me any more. I'm not even going to go back and read it, no matter how tempting it is :)

Sheesh, after the trauma of all this, give me childbirth any day - should be a breeze!

You shouldn't be so cynical about that. That's what I like about it. I very rarely travel from here - the odd soiree into OS, or the freebies board, but I normally only chat here.

I'm not afraid of a bit of argy-bargy, after all I cut my teeth on Usenet News and I have a wit that can cut very deeply indeed - but I don't see why I should have to do that.

No, I actually meant it genuinely, although it might have sounded tongue in cheek. I love DFW and I really appreciate how supportive and friendly it is.

Wow sounds like we are both being put through the mill today :(

This morning I got verbally attacked by another parent because she said Nathan bit her little boy - I duely went and checked with the teacher what had happened and she said Nathan was nowhere near the little boy at the time of the incident and she has told the other Mother this. I thought that would be the end of it but then I had the bad luck to run into her whilst I was out shopping and she has told me that her husband is after me and it won't be pretty by the time he has finished with me (god crying as I type this) so I have had to have baby checked because I got so upset and started having tummy pains.

School are going to try and sort it tomorrow but I don't know what else to do ??? She has been told Nathan didn't even touch her son but she won't listen and feels that she needs to go for me !!!

I just feel like giving up today

Snaggles - Don't let the Insurance Board bother you Hun. Hope the kiddies parents help out with the bill !!

    T xx

Oh my god Tashja, how horrible. I can't believe she's threatening you like that - what an awful woman. If the verbal attacks and threats continue, I would maybe think about contacting the police. You need to look after yourself and the baby. I hope everything was okay when you went for your check up - they're quite tough little things really, babies.

Lets look on the bright side - in just under 5 hours today will be over

I've just been in floods of tears, because DS spilled his drink all over his tea.....it didn't really matter (I gave him mine and shared a bit of hubbys) but it was the straw that broke the camels back, and I just couldn't stop crying once I'd started. DS was most bemused by his Mum sobbing over a spilt drink while cuddling him and telling him I loved him over and over.

What a complete wreck I am......need to pull myself together I think.
