Have you got any tips for getting great photos of kids Kath - photography is your area isn't it? It takes me ages to get anything approaching a decent photo, thank goodness for digital cameras.
Yes, photography is my "thing"!! The pressure's on nowI'd say use natural light (the lightest place possible but not direct sun) because it gives the best colour and lets your camera capture as much sharp detail as possible.
Strike a balance between using your zoom and putting the camera right in her face to stop distortion. If you take the picture from far away using the zoom lots the perspective is flattened IYKWIM? You don't get a sense of 3D and separation between her and her surroundings. OTOH, if you have the camera on 'wide angle' and put it very close to her it distorts shapes, she'd look a bit more 'balloon-like' than she is :rotfl:
To be honest your pictures are lovely, the colours are beautiful and you've got nice and close up to her. They're only small obviously but I don't think there's much more I can tell you! Feel free to ask though, of course.
As for getting her to smile in a picture...:rotfl:

The photoshoot sounds great tigtag, I've never dared go to one of those, because I know I would spend a fortune. Kirkstall Abbey is lovely, I bet you'll get some great pictures there.
Thanks for the tips Kath - you wouldn't believe it but my Grandad was quite a well know photographer (locally I mean - not like David Bailey or something), and took incredible photos, but the talent doesn't appear to be hereditary.
I would love to have a real eye for a beautiful picture though, it must be amazing to be able to capture a place or a moment perfectly, and preserve it forever."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -

Anyone got any top tips for baby passport photos? Weve got the Kodak printer dock printer and it will print 2 inch by 2 inch which isnt standard passport size. Weve tried a photo booth, but it was a nightmare. One smiling with head half in, one with Bottom half of head missing, one with hands in front of fac and the last one was blurred.!This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I don't know lenny except near us there's a shop that does passport photos, but its actually a person with a camera rather than a machine. Perhaps that would be better for getting the shot at the right time, and they might let you have enough tries until one came out ok! Its one of those key cutting and shoe repair shops... and now passport photos

I dunno chucky - I wouldn't even know how to start looking into a grant.
Before Christmas we got a quote for two windows for £600 and that was bringing him down from over £2K - we never actually had them done but now want 4 windows - We are assuming/hoping that £1200 is reasonable for this - do you think we could get it cheaper?

lenny - a lot of photo shops (klick springs to mine) do the shots for you.
We had little legs' done like this when she was about 5 months - they lay them on the floor and take the pic then print them out as they come from a booth - If I recall correctly the cost was the same too.

And I would third that. Got mine done in a little shop, so my money stayed with a local business and didn't further fill the coffers of Mr Tesco or whoever own the photo booth."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Top tip for new Dads....when reaching for the remote control, reach around your baby, not over her, otherwise if you are slightly clumsy and accidentally let go of the aforementioned remote, it will drop safely on the floor NOT ON HER BLOODY HEAD!!!
(she IS okay by the way....)"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250
