Hi there! This is the Old Style Daily Thread for Friday 30th April. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

Morning lovely OS-ers!
CupofChai - I do like your name! And also mrsmuggy - Good to have you both with us and to hear about your days.
LadyGrim -
Thinking of you today. I hope things go as well as they can.
Cranky - I think that taking a career break is a really good idea for both of you and shows what a brave and courageous woman you are. Oh and that photo is just darling!
jc -Thank you hon. Hope your throat is doing better today
kezlou - well done on the salad leaves! And it isn't sad at all, I am stupidly excited about all my seedlings and baby plants.
sistercas - the nurse said she thought I had had an extreme reaction. Just waiting to feel better really.
Butterfly - Hope your conjunctivitus clears up soon.
Tru - we have mushroom spores in the fridge ready to 'plant'. We grew gorgeous big mushrooms last year from a kit and had almost more than we could eat. I made a slide show of the different stages of their development which I bored everyone on the thread with..
Noahs - Ouch on the ear ache, hope it is better today and sorry to hear Noah is so stressed right now.
Bitsy - Hope you have a fun weekend hon
JackieO - I bought my first Dyson four years ago. It was a reconditioned one, one of the original yellow ones and I am still amazed at how good it is. I have never had a cleaner that picks up as well as this.. Guess we have been lucky.
JackieG - it's a darned long way for you to visit hon, but the kettle is on, pop in any time..
Penpin - Hope you feel better today honey
Kitchenbunny - lovely to see you posting!

LadyGrim -

Well I managed a saucer full of corned beef hash and it was delicious. I am sat here feeling queasy but I figure if it stayed down all night, it isn't coming up now
! Will have some more today and might even brave a little brown sauce..

Have two froglets in the tank now so will be moving them back outside in a day or so. I am moving them into the interim tank for now which has half pond water and half fresh to get them used to the pond water again.
Anyway, I hope everyone has a good day. With love and light to all.

Morning Peeps
Diva - glad to hear that you`re feeling a bit better, being able to keep some food down helps a lot. Speedy recovery wishes for you.
Cranky - Your photo brought tears to my eyes, such a lovely picture.
I woke earlier on the sofai was so tired that i fell asleep whilst on the laptop last night. DH covered me up as i woke all warm and snuggly.
The man who can will be here later to start work boxing in pipes and stuff in the kitchen so i need to get a move on and move things out of the way. It will be a strange day with lots to do but i shall probably spend most of it keeping the houndies out of the way and making tea, any chores that i can fit in will be an added bonus i think.
The water seems to be back on permanently now :j fingers crossed that nothing else goes wrong, there is a lot of work gong on in our area replacing gas pipes from the street to the meters, i think that the gas workers have caused the problem with the water so we had severn trent digging up the road too. Its very awkward to get around here atm and they arn`t even on our street yet
Right one more bit to read and then i`d better get a move on.
Have a good day everyone.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Morning all,
Bright day here again, although we are due rain later on, could do with some.
Ladygrim, I shall be thinking of you today, hope all goes as well as it can today xxx
Cranky, That cat obviously loves the elf to bits, they are lucky to have each other, I think a career break is a great idea, as long as you will be ok financially xx
Work today, and its very busy at the moment, which is great, the time flyes by, finish at lunchtime, so a short day too.
We have a man coming today to hang wallpaper in dd's room, need to go up there and move the wardrobe over in a while, also need to make sure its fairly tidy, don't want to scare the poor bloke off :rotfl:
I am doing a prawn and crab salad tonight with jacket spud, the prawns were 1/2 price in sainsbugs, and the crab is from a tin, never tried it tined before, but if its horrible I will make a pate with it, the tin was £1 in our local discount shop, will use 1/2 tonight and 1/2 tomorrow night.
Will have to do a wash tonight, and spend some time putting dd's room back to normal, she is spread over 2 rooms at the moment.
OK better get on, have good days all xx0 -
Morning all
Diva hope you continue to improve
Cranky If you can afford to take a career break and it's something you need to do go for it! If I could offer some advice though it would be to wait a while. I took a year out when the twins were 12/13 - I found that after going to senior school and then finding their feet it was at that point they needed a closer eye kept on them to stop them falling in with the wrong crowd and getting up to mischief! Could you manage until the house elf was 9-10 to cover his transition into senior school and maybe even negotiate to work shorter hours until then? I'm sure you'll make the right decision for your situation x
Mad busy day today and I still have a little preparation to do. Not sure what's happening with the step kids as their mother has said she doesn't know whether she wants them this week-end  Twins are off go-karting tonight so that should (hopefully!) keep them out of trouble. I have a MS job booked for dinner tonight which was for me DH and DD but if the SK's are here we can't do it.
I am struggling to think of anything remotely OS that will go on today except Chilli cooked yesterday is for dinner tonight as the kids fancied something else last night.
Must crack on, have a good day xClimbing back on the OS wagon after a short vacation to Recklessness

Morning All
Glad you are keeping some food down Diva.
Have woken to quite a wet garden, sunny now but we too have more rain forcast later. Hope to get some washing dry before.
Have loads to do today. Running errands this morning, some essentials for the caravan. When we got in it last night everything seems to be in working order. Think we are missing a pump for the sink and need the water bottles. So off to the camping shop this morning. They have a large 2nd hand section so will look there first. Will get some photo's later.
Rest of the day will be a mixture of cleaning, ironing and paperwork. Really want to get a lot more up straight this weekend we are behind with everything especially the garden, life has been too hetic lately!
Missed your picture yesterday Cranky - will go and have a look now.
Have a lovely day.x
Arrrhh Cranky - have just seen the photo - its lovely0 -
Morning :hello:
Ladygrim
Bubble Rabbit died yesterdayWe brought her in from the garden at teatime and she just sat there looking at the ceiling and gasping, then had a massive fit. We've buried her next to the veg patch, between the herb pots. I'd only just cleaned out her cage, there's fresh hay, food and a full water bottle and I don't want to empty it...................the guinea pigs have been very quiet since, except for Beans who keeps running up to her cage and squeaking at it.
I did 4 loads of washing yesterday, put it on the line then the rain started. It's still hanging there now, dripping. The sun's out so hopefully it'll dry.
It's my dad's birthday next week, he wants a climbing rose so we'll go to the nursery today for that and some mushroom spores. I'll make some cakes to cheer us up a bit, and clean out the animals. Then - nothing, I'm not in the mood so will probably just veg out in front of the tele.Bulletproof0 -
Hello MrsMuggy and Cup of Chai! Hope you stick around.
Snoozer – this “Packed Lunch Police” thing is a HUGE bug-bear of mine. Surely telling parents what they can and can’t feed their children is an infringement of human rights? OK, if somebody sne their child with nothing but chocolate cake every day then perhaps a quiet word, but cheese sandwiches? Ridiculous.
Tru – so sorry that you lost Bubble Rabbit. I have four little furries myself (in addition to Puppy-Dog) and it’s hearbreaking when you lose a loved pet, isn’t it?
Missed half a day’s work yesterday – I had a splitting headache and was absolutely shattered. So I curled up on the sofa and watched “The Other Boleyn Girl” twice (I slept through most of the first showing). Feeling better today although still a bit headachy. Nothing major though so life will go on as normal!
Need to go to Sainsbugs today and buy some food. I’ve been trying to figure out how to juggle a more healthy diet for me, with OH’s complete aversion to anything low fat (he works 10-11 hour days on a building site. He needs a few more calories than me!), and keeping the costs down. I’ll be hoping over to the “Weight Loss the OS Way” in a moment I think! I feel some batch cooking / freezing coming on!
Lunch is a mixture of Leftovers (clearing out the fridge before I go shopping!), dinner will be shamefully not HM pizza and chips (I haven’t started the diet yet!). I have a few cards to make over the weekend, so will try and get those done. Also need to look for fabric for curtains – not sure if I’ll make them yet but thought I’d at least cost them.
Have a lovey BH weekend everybody!

Tru ......Oh that is awful! especially when you have to watch them leave you.((((((((Hugs))))))))
I dread losing my Boxy he has delusions of doghood having being brought up as a house rabbit for the last 6 years and he is such a character and as daft as lights, never bites, knows who everyone is, climbs on my lap for a cuddle honestly I swear he is a doggie in rabbit clothing !!!!
Diva.... Glad you managed to keep something down at last xxxxxx
Well I am off to kick DS out of the door to school ...Will post more laterBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Good morning,
Sadly neither the cat or the child are as angelic as they look in that photo:rotfl:
MSD Glad you've managed to eat something at last
Tru Aww, I'm so sorry about your bunny, hugs to you.
Todays job is to take Grumpy to school, then start on the ironing mountain. I also need to go to Asda for a bit of food shopping, so I think I may buy a chicken and cook that for dinner tonight.
Take care all of you0
