Quick update from my Dad - the red shirts are going home, elections will take place on Nov 14.

    Really?

Abhisit said in a nationally televised address late Monday that he was ready to hold elections in mid-November if all parties accepted his reconciliation plan, but the protesters said the Election Commission should set the poll date.

"We will continue the rally until Abhisit says clearly when he will dissolve the House. Then we will discuss our next move," one of the protest leaders, Jatuporn Prompan, told reporters.

My daughter is in Kao Tao but is due to go back to Bangkok early Sunday morning and flying home on Tuesday Morning. Now she is going to take advice from her travel guide regarding whether she should stay in Kao Tao a day longer. However I wondr if anyone can tell me how close the Ko San road is from the protestors and whether she would have to go past there to get back to the airport. I am just trying to advice her as she is on her own for the last 2 days so is a bit nervous.

Not close to the protesters, so no need to worry.

Thanks for that. She has had a wonderful time and is just a bit nervous about this last bit. She was going to pre book a hotel in Ko San road but has decided to wait until she gets there. A good idea?

Not a problem at this time of year. However if she wants to prebook, this is a good place New Siam 2. Has a pool and is close to the river. Perfect for taking a ride on the River Taxi(up to 15 baht) Costs around £14 for a double room with hot shower at the moment. Close to the Khaosan Road, but better. Just two minutes walk from the bus stop for the Airport Bus AE2 to the airport. 150 baht. It also means that she can take exactly the same bus from the airport to the guesthouse. Just get her to tell the conductor/ticket collector that she wants to get off at the Phra Athit Road. Airport Bus is best as there will be fellow travellers using it.

I sent my daughter this info and she is just heading back to Bangkok and will be there at 9.00 in the morning. Do you think she needs to prebook? She printed out this information so she can tell ticket collector where she needs to go. Many thanks

My daughter is back in Bangkok and checked into the New Siam 11 guesthouse as suggested by Donnie ( many thanks again) She is due to leave on Teusday morning with a stopover in Bahrain overnight. Now we have the ash problem so is the best thing to leave as booked and maybe get stuck in Bahrain if Heathrow is closed on Wednesday morning?
