Help with my holiday to Thailand since FCO advice please.

Who's advice do you think we should take - The Tourism Authority of Thailand (who say the advice is unnecessary), or our own Foreign Office who still say don't go?0

Well the article you linked to is very misleading it seems TUI are not infact evacuating everyone and that they are continuing to sell holidays to the south of Thailand.
Not every country had placed an advisory against Thailand. You know how the news loves to over play every last little thing you would think there was world war three going on in Thailand when its not.0 -
On travelbags website it says people who are travelling to Thailand from now until the 5th May are to ring them to discuss options. Doesn't say anything about refunds though. I hope they don't say i can have a refund on the flights and then it's my responsibility to claim for the accomadation. We need a full refund so i can rebook somewhere else. I can't change my days off from work.0

We are kindoff in the same boat. We have discussed that if it comes down to it and things are bad in Thailand that we would still go ahead to BKK and book a flight on from there to Vietnam as we wouldn't be able to change dates either.0 -

I didn't say everyone was being evacuated!Quentin wrote:TUI are actually evacuating all UK customers from Thailand
This quote is from the article:Europe’s largest tour operator, TUI, is evacuating all its clients from Thailand on the basis of an advisory issued by the UK”s Federation of Tour Operators.0 -
I read over the UK bit and never noticed it sorry. But I do believe myself its not as bad as its being made out to be in the media.
There has been journalists who have also come out and said that they believe the FCO advice on Thailand is harsh. I'm kind of in their camp with that. Stay the hell outta BKK and the north of Thailand. (I'll see if I can find it again)0 -

They do kinda have a point though with the Sudan, Iran and Iraq argument0 -
TUI are actually evacuating all UK customers from Thailand:

And moving tourists to Phukett and still selling in the German market, I know I originally posted that link anyway what has that got to do with closing the airport?
It is a confusing piece but thats par for the course with the travel industry and another over reaction but lets face it its just damage limitation exercise by TUI.
It also says that your not insured if you are aware of the FCO advice so why not pitch up then if something goes wrong deny all knowlege, "FCO? dunno something to with football"
And talking about Sudan etc isnt London always on a high terror alert...0 -

I dunno. Why you asking me? I never mentioned the airport being closed, and neither does the article I linked to!0 -

I'm from Northern Ireland and I know how things were portrayed about here. You'd have thought we were dodging bullets in the street when nipping out for a pint of milk. Its prob half the reason why I'm taking coverage about Thailand with a pinch of salt, no denying its happening, but not as widespread as media would like you to believe.0
