You can also speed up your pc by cleaning up the temporary files in your pc.

I tend to install ccleaner for customers purely because telling them how to find the prefetch folder and the hidden temp folder under appdata is A) time consuming and B) a recipe for disaster because I don't trust them to delete the right files ;)

If you are using McAfee version 10 or more disable realtime script by clicking "Realtime-scanning-settings" to turn-off IE and Firefox script scanning option - you are much better off without it and both IE and Firefox works much quicker without it.

    Good evening all -
After months away I'm trying to come back online[ebay listing, necessary]at something more than 2cm per annum.

Everything is painfully slow, taking as long as a minute for some typing to appear after I've struck letters. Screens change as if reeling up or across in v.v.v.slow motion.

This is my first log from the instructions:

Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.4

    Thankyou closed.

I'm having a hopeless time with computer generally since being away for several months.
If it opens at all[and it has today:-} ] I am going to try again throughout today.

As I am managing occasional use of it for iplayer[no working tv since changeover last year],Tour de France atm, etc. it does work for that, but I have noticed that at switch off[if I don't just give up and switch it off directly down on the big box], it always says 'new progs to be installed'. This used to be a rarity; now a constant.

Is this an additional reason lengthening the slowdown? I've no idea what these progs are.

The response to mouse command is from 8 seconds minimum, to >90. This can also happen with typing, which I have written about before here.

The Google chrome 'sorry' face is a constant.
I have disliked google chrome from the outset and don't know where it came from[I've written that before, too]

I will start the steps I do understand now and hope for non-tech terms in the advice after that.

Closed - I remember your previous help and really DO need it again now. Need to be able to ebay again, if nothing else.

    Thankyou.

When do I stop the task manager thing? - it seems to go on ad infinitum.
    Should it?

As the numbers keep changing, I cannot post the totals as asked for.

The PF usage column now reads 958MB. There are apx 7mm left of bars above this.
    No, it's dropped to 931...924...919...910MB.
    Will it stop eventually?
Down in the mid 800s now...
    Is this what should happen?
