Arnold Clark!!!!!!!
I bought a used car from Arnold Clark just over 3wks ago (My nearest dealer is a ferry trip away costing me £20 a trip)
As soon as i'd paid for the car and signed the papers the saleman went to get the keys. He then rushed past me saying there was a problem with the stereo (which is built into the car). The service team apparently knew what the problem was and had already ordered the part- I was to bring it in the following week. Nice how he told me once i'd paid for the car!!
By the time i'd got home I was missing a wheeltrim (funnily enough it was the tyre they'd replaced), i'd noticed the passenger side door was clicking as it closed and the cigarette lighter wasn't working (I need it to charge the sat-nav). I reported these new problems and was told they'd be fixed along with the stereo.
I went back the following week and spent 4hrs wandering the shops whilst it was being repaired. When I went to pick up the car I was told the integrated stereo couldn't be fixed, so they'd shoved another one in the compartment underneith, they didn't have the element for the lighter but the door was fixed. I was in such a rush to get back for DS that I didn't check the door:o. Once i'd got back I noticed the door hadn't been fixed.
Another phonecall later and I was told to bring it back today (by this point the clutch was creaking so they said they'd fix that aswel even though they'd checked it before I bought it and they said it was fine:mad:). After 2hrs I was called to say that they had to order a part for the door and the clutch- but the best one was when they informed me the bit they'd ordered for the lighter was missing
So that was a day off work and £20 paid for nothing.
I'm to go back, again, next week. I've complained to the girl at the service desk, but she didn't seem too bothered. It costs me £20 everytime I go over, plus time off work. Can I expect them to pay for my ferry journey at least since they keep NOT fixing things when I go over?

Every time life knocks me down, I just stay on the ground for a bit and look up at the sky for a while. Eventually I get up and have a cup of tea.

Maybe you could ask them to collect and deliver it back to you as a gesture?0

I know what gesture i'd like to give them;)
The couple down the road had similar problems and left the car with them. They were told that it would be ready the following day- a week later the car still hadn't been repaired. For that reason i'm reluctant to let them take the car- it seems to become less of a priority and I live out in the sticks and need my car.Every time life knocks me down, I just stay on the ground for a bit and look up at the sky for a while. I bought from A/C, Hamilton Rd, Glasgow Easter w/e. Mega probs with the service I got from them, long story ....... ! Happy to say everything was sorted before I collected car. Anyway, they emailed me and asked me to do an on-line survey (silly ppl), I did and didn't hold back on my comments.
After the survey I got a phone call from A/C's general manager. I will PM you his phone number, maybe worth a call direct to him!0 -
Hopefully lesson learned from the cowboys AKA Arnold Clark !!!!0

Just filled out the customer survey- ohhh, that felt good
It asked if i'd met the general/sales manager on collection of the car- I answered 'no', it then asked me why!!!!!
How the heck am I meant to know- I told them to go and ask their staff not me!Every time life knocks me down, I just stay on the ground for a bit and look up at the sky for a while. Eventually I get up and have a cup of tea.0 -

Hi sorry to highjack your thread but I have also had issues with Arnold Clark, was one at end of M74:mad:
anyway no issues with car but they changed finance agreement and upped the monthly repayments but did not advise of the change also they gave a p/x figure when doing changeover said car needed work and charged £250 to fix. Car was my partners and sadly I was not there otherwise we would have walked out but she did know what was going any thoughts or advice as to what we could at least to get the £250 back.
Also regarding the survey was that a call back and should we expect one
One last thing I work for hsbc and if we are doing any lending have disclaimers to give, check that can afford etc etc but for the hp on car we were not told anything is that right?
thanks in advance0 -
