    Rules shmules.

Rules go out the window when it comes to the care of your kids.

But this isn't about caring for children, this is about saving money!

Why didn't you say that in your OP? You made it sound as though you were visiting her and she wasn't actually with you when you arrived or came back to the hospital.

i think it was people just assuming that i was coming and going each day
didnt think i was going to get a barage of heartless abuse
was just asking if anyone knew of a quick way to get a blue badge re-issued
my post was never actually about parking!!

Is it? OP dumps the car to go be with his child. I think that's the bottom line.

I hear what you are saying but I just think there are bigger issues.
  • Monkfish wasn't concerned about ease of access, it was about saving £42 per day. The blue badge scheme is about access - not free parking. It's all moot anyway because the thread will get locked, we're not allowed to judge anyone even if it's someone abusing a blue badge and breaking the law.

You must only tell people what they want to hear!

your 6 year old daughter is in hospital in london, you are staying there with her while she has treatment.

The hospital doesn't have a car park, so you are using your daughters blue badge to park for free in a street close to the hospital.

Your daughter was in the car when you first parked the car for her to be admitted.

She is allowed out of the hospital in between treatments and you use the car to take her for trips out, therefore she is again in the car with you when you eventually park back up behind the hospital.

While the car is parked using the blue badge you are staying in the hospital to help look after your daughter.

When she is eventually well enough (hopefully this will be soon) to be discharged she will return to your car, that is parked behind the hospital using the blue badge, to go home.

If that's the case then surely the badge is being used 100% correctly and i can't understand how anyone would think otherwise *confused*

    yes.!!
I would say you are pretty much spot on with that assumption !!

of course it's about caring for a child....how many people do you know that could afford £42 a day for parking. If the OP wasn't able to park for free they very possibly wouldn't be able to stay at the hospital with their daughter which would obviously be very upsetting for a poorly little 6 yr old girl and may even imped her recovery. They also wouldn't be able to take her out in between treatments if they didn't have the car parked close by and being able to get out of the hospital between treatments has been proven to help recovery. Its the reason why in certain areas hospitals are paying for cancer sufferers undergoing treatment that traditionally would involve a hospital stay to pay in special hotel rooms close by instead of on a ward.

Thank goodness. Someone with a brain. I was beginning to think you were all thick or just couldn't read properly. Of course he is using it correctly. As stated above, the child was in the car when they went to the hospital and the whole blooming idea of BB is so they can park as close as possible to transport their disabled daughter to where she is going. They are staying with her and have permission from the Attendants to park longer than the normal 3 hours. They will leave with their child.
So the rest of you need to re-read the original post and stop being needlessly spiteful. Good grief have a bit of compassion.

I was starting to wonder if I had totally misunderstood the OP because I really couldn't understand why they were getting so much flack for using the BB for exactly the purpose it was intended :o
