Swollen feet in pregnancy, do they go down afterwards?

Was anybody else rather bemused as I was when on my very first visit to the midwife in pregnancy I was asked my shoe size...I never knew that it's apparently related to pelvic size and how easy the birth should be!0

You can go up a shoe size after pregnancy - permanently. My feet do seem a bit bigger than they used to be. The swelling goes though, but the relaxation of the ligaments can result in a permanently larger foot. DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

That's only half of it!
I had SPD from about 16 weeks and had to wear a lovely girdle type thing - very sexy! I then developed polyhydramnious which is way too much amniotic fluid, which made the SPD and swelling symptoms worse as the weight of the liquid added to it. I kept getting sugar in my urine and had to have umpteen blood tests and glucose tolerance tests, but nothing conclusive was ever found.
Too much fluid can signal a problem with the baby, so I had numerous extra scans and was referred to specialists at another hospital as they were concerned about my baby's brain. They could see a shadow and she had a very large head. They wanted to do a brain scan, but by the time the appointment came, she'd dropped into my pelvis and they had me laying all sorts of ways to try and get a picture but couldn't. I did get some 4D freebie pics though to make up for not getting the brain scan.
She arrived at 36 weeks and was fine and healthy. The shadow turned out to be a thick head of hair, and she does have a larger than average head, but so do I and so does my Dad so it's no big deal, other than she need a bigger hat size!
And even though all of that happened, I'd still have another one
Here I go again on my own....0 -

My OH also had swollen ankles and discovered if you lie on the bed and hold your feet up in the air all the swelling slides down your legs and relocates on your thighs & bottom
