What do the manufacturer's instructions say about leaving room at top (& sides), and also about ambient temperature around the unit?0

So your fridge is operating more efficiently and you think it's broken?
Where was the fridge before and where is it now? Colder room?0 -

Was under work top side by side with freezer. It would of been in a colder room as that kitchen had no CH radiator where this one has a big night store heater.0 -
Did you let it stand for a while before turning back on after the move?
Personally I would see if you could sell the separates and oput that towards a suitable fridge freezer which will certainly look and I presume operate better. i appreciate finances may not permit immediately
Best of luck with the new house0 -

We never turned it on until the next day.
My wife is thinking about a new all in one but the separte appliances are only 18 months old and we will get very little for them. I am beginning to wonder if it is the themostat switch?0 -

Worth me looking out the warranty although my wife is sure it is only one year. Now where did I put it -- still not sure where eveything is after our move and so blooming tired.0 -
Our old fridge used to get a bit over-enthusiastic if you left food touching the back wall and would freeze things slightly.
As for the stacking thing - ours have been stacked a year and a half (new fridge) - we use a bit of wood between them so they're not standing directly on top of each other as the tops are somewhat weak - no problems.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
I would tie the top one to the wall, especially if you have kids around. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

An update!!!
I am now confident the problem is that the thermostat switch is broken and as such is set to maximum all the time. We left over night on the minimum (number one) and still have frozen milk and tomatoes like canon balls.
Looks like I need a new one. I suppose I could find out about a repair but reckon that would be expensive -- £100? Or what?0
