Praise for the checkout bloke in Asda

It's been one of those days today where everything has gone wrong, from waking up this morning and finding the family pet had died through to the front of my car getting damaged whilst parked up at the shops, I was having a really crap day.
I called to pick up a couple of bits for dinner from Asda and the bloke on the checkout was such a cheery bloke it actually put me in a happier mood having had a brief conversation with him whilst he was putting the shopping through.
I think it was the first time all day I cracked a smile and felt a little bit cheery. So thanks Mr Checkout man, I hope you manage to brighten up other peoples day.

Thats great isn't it- make sure you tell him if you see him again as I bet he gets fed up to his neck of grumpy bum customers and it will help him keep cheery if he knows he makes a difference.:silenced:They Were Up In Arms wrote: »I think tabskitten is a crying, walking, sleeping, talking, living troll :cool:0

Aww it's nice to hear a bit of praise and reports of good service for a change. I must admit the staff at our Asda are all lovely too and often smile and chat away whilst serving you.0

Give the store a ring or write a nice note, it always brightens up their day if someone contacts the store to say how nice they were0

Do contact the store to tell them, give them the info from your receipt then they will know who it was. It would make my day if I worked there and was told that a customer phoned in specially to tell them that I'd cheered them up simply by doing their job so well.0

Definietly let the store know. We are always too quick to complain when things go wrong, but very rarely do we give praise in a shop/restaurant etc.0

This thread has inspired me to leave some positive feedback too. I used to pop into my local Somerfield often on the way home from work. They were mostly young people working and there were all so... well, so NICE. Always smiling and very polite. Not to mention efficient at packing your bags, always taking care not to crush anything and double bagging if you had something heavy. My favourite was a very tall lad with lots of facial piercings and tattoos on his neck. So many people judge those with body mods badly that I was well chuffed when he chatted happily to me as he packed my bags and even offered to snap my baquette in two to make it easier for me to carry.
It's sad but I miss going there to do my shopping- there's so much rudeness today that I get a lift everytime I meet someone pleasant who goes the extra mile (goodness I sound old!)0 -
I have written to the store with a little thank you note to the store this morning with the details that were on the receipt. If At First You Don't Succeed, Call It Version 1.00

It is nice when that happens, some checkout operators can be so grumpy, just shoving your shopping through at a million miles an hour and grunting at you for money!
One sunday morning I wasn't too grateful for the happy cheery (loud) checkout girl though - immensely hungover with someone who seemed like she'd taken one too many happy pills, asking a million questions... could she not see my alka seltzers, irn bru (fab hangover cure!) and comfort food?! Not to mention my green face from feeling so sick0
