Thanks Laura...was wondering if you would be starting delivery options or is it always going to be collect from store only? It would be quite helpful for people who cannot make it all the way to the store

the toshiba tv's wernt by magic ticket...they were just see the people with balloons and que up...they were keeping note of stock levels........we sold around 5,000 of the toshibas over the weekend i believe.
the toshiba offer is the only one on for abit longer (it was on the front page of the offer booklet, small print down bottom states offer available until 12-5-10)

atm its only instore shopping as we are the first uk best buy, they are hoping to be up online around september time once other stores are up and running.

They were given a ticket on Sunday morning - honestly! And he queued up from 9am until the shop opened for browsing at 10.30 but still didn't get one because they said they had none at first and then 70. Be great if you could let us know if you get some more in. Thanks Laura-Jane.

I went along to Best Buy about 10 minutes before it opened on Monday the 3rd, travelled about an hour on the M25 to get there.

There was queues although they were quite short and we got in within 15 mins of the store opening.

I was disappointed to find out that the 32 inch tv and the Black Wii deal had gone as would have likely brought one of these.

I wish Best Buy would have put exactly what opening deals were out of stock on their website. I saw that they mentioned the 32 inch tv on there, but it would have been good to have listed all the details and the date and time posted to save people from making a wasted trip. I ended up not buying anything. They did have some decent camera's at half price, but I would have just brought it for the sake of it, as I did not need a new camera!

I would have not gone if only Best Buy was there, but as there are hundred of other shops nearby it was worth it to visit Lakeside.

The staff were pretty friendly, but like other's have said it is just like a large Comet/Currys and I noticed that a lot of the stuff that was not in there opening offers is actually cheaper online.

Going to have to wade in here in reply to Laura Jane...

DSGi colleagues are also NOT on commission - there are bonus schemes in place in relation to store performance, but it's based on margin %, not the price of the product - we make the same on a £600 laptop as a £300 one. ANY store caught pushing high-priced products onto customers that do not need them would be seriously investigated and reprimanded.

There are Retail Priorities in place across the group, one of which is The Right Solution For EVERY Customer. Sometimes this means you buy nothing from the stores but leave armed with the information you need to make the right purchase elsewhere or in-store in the future.

If you ever feel that you've had products or services pushed on you, make sure you feed it back to the store manager.

Both Currys and PC World are matching Best Buy pricing, providing they have it in stock, and if you're in PC World Thurrock they have a Computer Guru who can answer ANYTHING you may want to know on any techie subject, and will happily demonstrate any product or provide tuition (free).

Back on-topic - Nice store, shame about the lack of commitment from the staff. Might be they're just burnt out from having a busy weekend having had weeks of relaxing training, but they just don't seem all that knowledgable. Friendly enough, but the product knowledge just isn't there, from those i spoke to anyway!

was just about to say the say bazz until i saw your post, currys, pc world, comet are not on commission quite possibly a libelous statement given by laura jane, especially as she in the eyes of the law could be deemed a company representative as they are posting on here stating they work for bestbuy. Seem to recall my contract would deem it gross misconduct unless the company has given me permission to make statements on a internet forum. As for the service that the staff are given there is hillarious i was in there questioning a staff member and they didnt even know the difference between a 50hz and 100hz tv set. If this is the sort of staff and training they give i am sure my nice local indpendant electrical shop will thrive off the back of bestbuy
