Hello
Yesterdays shopping was expected to be £25 and actually came in at £22.22 which was a bonus. Not a huge saving but at least not an overspend.
This brings total spends so far to £150.36 so just 36p over half of GC spent and only have until end of Tuesday to go.
Will want milk but that will be either tomorrow or even Monday and apart from some fruit & veg that should be it. :T
Today we having a Shepherds Pie from out of freezer, just needs the potato putting on the top and some steamed veg to go with it. Have just eaten a large salad with smoked bacon bits, mushrooms and small cubes of cheese - it was delicious and only cost a few pennies plus we had everything in.
Hope everyone enjoys the weekend and that the sun keeps shining for a little longer at least.MARCH £62.38/2500 -
Not been on for a few night as I've done an extra evening shift at MrW and was testing DS for his PE exam! I don't mind, but I ended up sleeping really badly because my mind was full of all the information I'd been testing him on!
The G challenge is going very well for us. I'll need to shop Saturday or Sunday and have about £70 to last to the end of the month.Mortgage Free in 3 part 2 challenge - pay off £9000
Sealed Pot Challenge 416 - target £5000 -
Evening everyone,
well dh went and got the milk and sugar last night-from CO OP of all places, which i avoid if they dont have any offers on i like, and he didnt remember the bananas or the receipt! So im just adding £2 to the sig for that as a rough guess.
So normally today or tommorow would have been my shopping day, but it was just far too warm to drag a toddler round the supermarket, and i didnt have my car all day because it was in for MOT-more money-so decided to leave it, but im now wishing i had gone because dh has gone to Mr T tonight for those bananas, milk, washing up liquid and dd yoghurts and im still going to have to go back over the weekend for the rest of what we need, so i should have just got it out of the way today. Well that will teach me! Still, dh always sticks to the list so thats ok i suppose.
So i think when i do go and do my proper shop, as i dont really need much, although i think i will definately go over this month, it wont be by much. Hmm...suppose i could wait till Tuesday lol and my new month, but think we might be missing fruit and veg by then!
So will update sig properly tommorow when i have receipt from tonight and from when i go Mr T over the weekend
Night all x0 -
Good evening all,
I managed another NSD yesterday so I'm reasonably on course for my target on those this month. However, it will be a struggle as I know I will need to get meat and eggs from the butcher tomorrow. And I don't have as many days of the month left as I thought due to a bit of a bonus yesterday in work when I discovered that we'll be paid on Friday 28th instead of Monday 31st due to it being a Bank Holiday!
The big plus on this is that this will be the last weekend of the month and I may just slip in under budget but it's mighty tight.
I went to MrT today when I finished work and had a fairly expensive shop but I had to buy loads of snack type foods (cheeses not normally purchased, tinned meats and fish, fruit and other bits and bobs) because OH is having an op on his knee on Monday and will be off work and off his feet for a while. I needed to get bits so that when I go back to work he can easily sort out something to eat. Anyway, I spent £57.02 (sig is updated) leaving me only £28.22 to get through to Friday.
I still need milk (second week MrT didn't have Calon Wen SS Milk ) as well as the eggs and meat so I think it will be over budget this month. But hey, I've learnt that this budget is probably too tight for us at the moment and will probably lift the level next month by £10-20 to give us the cushion. But then again if it's tight then maybe that's the point of the challenge for me. Hmmmm, need to think on it.
As for the prices going up, I haven't gone through my receipts (which I have kept in monthly batches) but the prices have undoubtedly gone up in MrT. There is an A**i on my way home (well slight detour) and so I may give them a go at some point to see what they're like. OH certainly used to like the meats and things in L**l so it's worth a look. I see a many people talk about a A**i super six. What is that please?
Right off to read Harry Potter to the GD so I'll see you all tomorrow.
Take care,
SpigsMortgage Free October 2013 :T0 -
£12.04 spent tonight in Asda, Tesco and Lidl.
Shouldn't need much else as i'm going away next week, but I am going to a car boot on Sunday so will buy some sausages from the butchers van there as they're lovely.
Next month I must make a real effort to use my freezer/cupboard contents as had some large spends in the last few months, so need to stop buying food I don't use for ages!Grocery challenge - Nov: £52/£100

Big Mumma F - OH's DS would definitely notice if I tried to fob my home made spag bol as a Dolmio one I'm afraid cos it is so much more redder & runnier than my home made version.
Spiggle - Aldi Super Six is the name that Aldi give to their 6 fruit or veg that is on offer each fortnight and they are usually really nice & great value.Grocery aim £450pm.Spent £519 August, £584 July, £544 June, £541 May, £549 April, £517 March, £517 Feb,£555 Jan, £573 Dec, £465Nov, £561Oct, £493Sept, £426Aug,£496 Jul, £528Jun, £506May,£498April, £558 March, £500Feb, £500 Jan, £490 Dec, £555 Nov,£566 Oct, £505Sept, £450Aug, £410 July, £437 June, £491 May, £471 April, £440 March, £552Feb, £462Jan0 -
Sorry my PC is really playing up tonight, so having to post a bit by bit!
I have spent another £20 odd. Again some of this was on bargains such as a loaf of bread for 7p & 6 rolls for 8p but some of it was more bits for my family party tomorrow plus some salad for dinner tonight because I couldn't face anything hot. I'll still need to go to the co op again in the morning though cos I used up all my eggs tonight for the kids omelettes & I need to bake a g/f cake tomorrow morning.
Bit annoyed actually cos my sister said she was doing a buffet so I bought a g/f pizza but now she says she is doing a barbecue so I will have to try the butchers in the morning to see if I can get any g/f sausages or burgers but I bet that they will say I have to have ordered them before so my son will probably have to eat differently to everyone else now.Grocery aim £450pm.Spent £519 August, £584 July, £544 June, £541 May, £549 April, £517 March, £517 Feb,£555 Jan, £573 Dec, £465Nov, £561Oct, £493Sept, £426Aug,£496 Jul, £528Jun, £506May,£498April, £558 March, £500Feb, £500 Jan, £490 Dec, £555 Nov,£566 Oct, £505Sept, £450Aug, £410 July, £437 June, £491 May, £471 April, £440 March, £552Feb, £462Jan0 -
Morning
Well my T*sco delivery came to £58.45 taking my total to £384.22. I have £15.78 left:eek:.
I won't make this but will cling on for as long as I can!
I won't need much today, just some rolls for the kid's lunch. Tonight I'm doing kedgeree for us and fish and chips for the kids and I've got all the stuff for that.
Off to count the T-bags and divide by 10 to see if we'll last the month!! I know, I'm losing it!
Have a good weekend
ETA 88! not enough!August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.0 -
hi all,
not a great week, i need to work on non-spend days..
i'll update my totals in a bit when i get my purse and notebook together.
Logged on as wanted to ask a question. I have just made some hummus, with chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, garlic and water. (read it could be frozen so have made a big batch). On licking the spoon after putting in the tahini (seseame paste) i thought it tasted quite similar to peanut butter. I wondered if anyone had made hummus with peanut butter and how it had gone. not sure how much peanut butter is - the tahini was 2.82 in the healthfood shop.

Now I have been living in sunny Dawin,Australia for 15months it is clear that in Darwin - very remote Northern Territory there are very few whoopsies or bargains to be had.The home brand is limited and not so cheap but I still shop with the majority of staples being homebrand.
I have 3 children 11,10 and 6 and OH who all take packed lunches and I bake every week and batch bake many recipes from here.
I menu plan each fortnight as we get paid every 2 weeks here which is really great.
Have recently made the lemon curd cake and so many variations of it with whatever jam/fruit I have lurking.Tomorrow it will be apricot and almond.
I decant rice crackers,HM biscuits, jelly, yoghurts, nuts, cereals into mini containers for packed lunches.
I take ziploc bags everywhere and at morning tea pilfer what I woukld have eaten into my ziploc for smeones pack up.
Staples are sandwiches, wraps, pasta salads, pinwheels and sausage rolls. With lots of fruit and bar/cake/slice.
Tonight as OH is away for 3 weeks training we had( all from the freezer - )
Roast Pork,mashed potatoes,carrot,corn,peas,gravy.
Berries and icecream ( berries were this mornings left over smoothie )
Now the kids are watching a film and having microwave popcorn with a dash of icing sugar instead of going out to dinner or getting a dvd out.
Tomorrow we'll be having cereal and toast for breakfast.
Lunch - Toasted cheese and onion sandwiches, grapes and pear.
Dinner - Turkey soup and rolls, chocolate crepes.
I am astounded at the amount of people still doing the grocery challenge and point all my Aussie friends on to this fantatsic site.
Have a good weekend,mines half over..:A
