    Hi All

Well I have added all my receipts and my food budget has come in at .......£212.48. I had said it would be £240.00 so £27.52 under budget..yaaaa.

However my other budget was a bit high this month so I need to be better in June.
I get paid tomorrow so my month goes from21st to the 20th.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

80p spend today on lasagne sheets. Wanted the cheapy ones as they taste the same to me, but someone picked them up for me. Only 20p extra I suppose, I can cope with that...just :p

It could have been an expensive day as my car has a funny noise which seems to be getting louder. Anyway, my lovely dad picked it from my work and took it to the garage where they found nothing wrong (although the noise is still there, so i'll have to just ignore it!) My dad even stuck £10 of petrol in it as it was quite low, so i'm going to take him and my stepmum out as a thank you sometime as it mucked their day up a bit.
    Grocery challenge - Nov: £52/£100
  • Evening everyone,

nsd yesterday as dd was up all night crying because she is poorly, so that was the third night of no sleep, so yesterday was spent in PJ's trying to catch an hour's nap here and there. She is much better today thank goodness and we got some sleep last night!

Was going to be a nsd today but we have no sugar which dh will be devastated about lol as he cant abide tea without sugar, and no banans which dd loves so ive asked him to pick those items up on his travels tonight, so will update sig tommorow.

Have only 5 days left of my GC now before payday on 26th, my car is going in for its MOT tommorow, so while that will be a fair amount of cash gone, its been saved up and hopefully wont be too bad. Therefore the weekend will be low spend as my car will probably getting the required repairs done. Ive decided im going to shop from home over the next few days and empty the freezer a bit.

    Thats the plan anyway!

    Night all xx

....need to have more NSDs beacuse it is definitely a problem for me, just popping into the local co-op for one or two things & coming out with ten....fussy for main dinners & one of them will only eat a spag bol made with a Dolmio sauce even though the rest of us eat a home made ....
I posted earlier in the week about how I lurrrrrv the nsd Challenge :pCan't believe how a little cluster of numbers could have such an effect on my spending, but it does! Yesterday for example, I knew I had to spend, so I did a bit of forward thinking & got everything I could on the one day.
As for the spag bol, I would be very tempted to make it in advance but in two separate dishes so the more 'concerning' diner would have his own. Then you have two options; the first would be to make bol as you do for the family, & make several portions with the jar for him in the other dish. Then you'll have some spare to freeze for other days. The second is to make the entire bol as you would do normally, put his in a dish to cook & TELL him you've made his with the jar ;) If you feel No2 is a step too far too quickly, do No1 till the frozen portions run out then resort to No2 cuz he'll be used to having his own dish by then :p

....inflation is having some impact on me after all! I'm sure my food bills have gone up alot over the past couple of years :(
I was getting increasingly  walking around MrT yesterday & have just checked my records to confirm my suspicions.
    14-4..£1:00 3L 'purple' milk
    28-4..£1:25
20-4..£1:50..ssssooooo glad our usage appears to have dropped [we have the milkman still so there's other milk too, in case you're wondering :o]
    22-4..£1:00 MrT 750g cornflakes
20-4..£1:20 & that's how much the 1kg size of MrS tawnie-fakes were last month, but it's a bit of a trek to get there regularly.
It may seem a little OTT to record everything but like the NSDs, it help keeps me focused on what we can or cannot live without in the household. For instance, No3 insists on proper doo-doo bags when walking Pup where the rest of us will use bread bags, so I refuse to buy them now :D But I'm fortunate that The Offspring are grown & can go buy their own particular fancies, which is why I've taken a lot of things out of my Grocery Challenge.

I won't update my total today as I've to be out in a bit & there's all sorts to come off the receipts that are not included in my Grocery Challenge.

I've been a bit lax in my posting this month, so thought I ought to update.

I have figures that look bad, but are actually good - I have 9 days left of the month, and have 'officially' over spent by £31.03, but - at the start of the month, I counted £106.41 worth of storecupboard contents into that spend figure, something I hadn't done before.

Take that back out of the equation, and I would still have around £75 left - which seeing as all I need to finish the month off is a bit of fruit and maybe a tub of ice-cream and I'm actually very happy about :)
