sounds like they may have bought the ledger of 'bad' acount debts- either non traceable, or agreed writeoff, like yourself. (the agency probably pay a nominal amount per debt, say £5, and anything they recover is profit)

; the original firm you did business with cleans up their books, and gets something back against money they had already written off.

they should be making first contact by letter- quite right to tell them to stuff it!

I hope this next bit makes you laugh, one of the senior women there we identified as being the "phantom pooer", i.e. she used to have a poo and never flush the toilet and she always used to take her pen with her when she went - yuck.

    I wish you well.

    :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Years ago I did some training with CS on how to achieve the result (ie debt payment) without the need for aggressive rude or threatening attitudes. At the time it worked really well but is sounds like I need to make another sales call :D:D

I have to say though that I listened to hundreds of calls these people made and the amount of abuse they recieve themselves is appalling - not an excuse for them but maybe we would all be on the defensive if we were swore at, threatened and abused every day. The OP themselves has admitted to telling them to **** off. I think thats just as bad personally:o

(wanders off to look up client information to see if the phantom pooer can be identified:rotfl: :rotfl: )

I was paying my debts, I just found myself in a position that I couldn't manage to pay them in full.

Because of a long term illness I lost wages and couldn't afford to pay a lot of my bills.

Like most people who get into debt, no -one wants to be in that position but they just can't help it.

I do hope that you are not trying to judge me here by the way.

just ignore the dumb comments that people make on here - its a small amount of people that will

if you have problems managing your debts etc the www.cccs.co.uk have a usefull site and free pack that you can get to structure your debts.

remeber that debts like store cards, credit cards etc are a non priority debt

debts liek mortgage, electric , council tax are priority debt

ps to my previous.. have to say that by time a d/c needs to be involved on 'normal' debts, the creditor would have exhasuted their own collection attempts- either no reply to letters, or calls going unanswered, promised payments never turn up etc..

one case was odd though- someone had debt marked uneconomical to pursue (effectively written off), as had bad accident, not long to live, unable to work again etc.

2 years on, they applied for a new credit account, and wondered why she got declined.. a miraculous recovery i am sure, but the cheek of it!

Karen, it's a widely-held belief on MSE that Brooker Dave is an alias for Dave Brooker, who many people consider a troll.

IMHO, I'm not 100% sure on either of this. Actually, I think he'll be coming after me next .

Thank you. I kinda wondered if the other person was just trying to wind me up but I always like to give people the benefit of the doubt first.

Nice to see there are some decent people on here anyway, and thanks once again for your appreciated advice.
