Is it just me or is the phrase "those Eastern Europeans" somewhat unpleasant?

fair point but it was directed at a different bunch of bigots

  • She did indeed claim to be a Labour Party supporter but at the same time had BNP written all over her. So fair play to Gordon for outing yet another closet fascist.

Sadly and paradoxically a lot of labours traditional core constituents ie white working class do tend to lean towards the BNP.It has been one of New Labours biggest failure to forget them and let them drift towards the far right.Gordone has not really doen anything to help that today

Lady says "you cant say anything about the immigrants because you say ... [she fades] ... "

Later Gordon says "she's a bigoted woman"

Thanks Gordon - you just proved her point for her. She raised a legitimate concern aboout immigration together with other issues including student funding, taxation of her pension, the vulnerable not getting the help they need, and because she had the audacity to mention the word "immigration" shes a bigot whose views can be instantly dismissed. Absolutely disgraceful.

If she had used the expression "these black people" or "these gay people" I'd bet the press wouldn't be quite so kind on the lady in question.

Just you maybe. How else are we supposed to refer to them. If there are more than one of them and they come from that part of the world ??
Not read the whole thread but I am hazarding a guess she is one of thousands who have had a guts full for one reason or another of them ??
It really depends on where you live and whether or not you have to tolerate them.
I came in to this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left.
