The comparison sites said to use Eon Fix online V8 . Went through Topcash to the Eon website, and it only shows Eon Fix online 8 . Is this the same deal, or does the 'V' denote something else?

Same thing I believe. EON V8 (Version 8) locks you into a price plan with them until 2011, if you wish to get out of this price plan prior to that date it cost you 30 pounds. On the plus side you get 26% discount on your bill, as opposed to the miserly 8 percent you normally get. Its a no brainer.0

The % discount offered by EON on the fixonline v8 product varies by region; In my region of S.Wales the total discount is "only" 22.5% not 26%0

Hi Anglicanpat
As BLT says, Fix online V8 and Fix online 8 are the same tariff. The 'V' denotes version.
Hope this makes things clearer. Give me a shout if you need any more info as will be happy to help.

Found this warning way back in the threads whilst I was looking for something else. Anyone know if this is still a relevant consideration please? Malcolm?
Watch out for E-ON charging extra, although I'm not sure if all providers make this charge :-
"As your gas supply is maintained by an Independent Gas Transporter (IGT), rather than Transco, you'll incur an additional annual charge of £42 per year"
Re what I was actually looking for , was to find out what to do about my debit with my existing company, Winter usage was higher this year than usual and I dont want it to mean I get quoted an extra high dd each month. Id rather pay it off in a lump. Is it best to do this with my present company before I change, or as soon as EON takes over ? On the other hand I suppose EON might pull the V8 whilst Im organizing the former option since its BG . Advice anyone please?0 -

Your current supplier would send you a final bill which would have to be paid of in full before you left i think. In Progress!!!0 -
Hi Anglicanpat
IGT charges do form part of the Fixonline 8 product where the gas is shipped through an Independent Gas Transporter (IGT) rather than the National Grid (formerly Transco).
The extra IGT charge is currently £42 per year. This is spread out over the 4 quarterly bills.
If you let me know the first two digits of your Meter Point Reference (MPR) number, I will let you know if your gas is shipped via an IGT.
The MPR number can be found on any of your previous bills.
Either pop the two digits on the forum or drop an email to the address in my Profile if you prefer. Will be happy to help.
Please don't post the complete MPR number on the forum as this will compromise your security because the numbers are unique to individual properties.

That said Pat, my bill for the last quarter was 150 pounds, 8 percent discount on that was 12 pounds. 26 percent discount on that would have been 39 pounds.
I found out about the additional discount when I rang up to query my bill, when I asked why I wasn't notified of this when I signed up the representative said 'its not something we advertise' Thanks EON0 -
Hi Anglicanpat
Good news. Properties with an MPR number starting with 16 are not supplied by an IGT. Therefore, the £42 IGT charge will not apply.
Hope this helps. Give me another shout if I can help further as will be happy to do so.
