doddsyWe must not, in trying to think about how we can make a big difference, ignore the small daily differences we can make which, over time, add up to big differences that we often cannot foresee.

HI
I think that Family Circle's main problem is there name and image - people think that it is an older mag and indeed reading that link it says that the average age of the reader is 52. I have bought it for a good 10 years and I am 40, but at first I wouldn't have bought it because of the dowdy image the name gives it. My MIL used to get it and one day I picked it up at her house and now it is one of my standards. I am going of Prima and Essentials though, now, my mum always got Good Housekeeping and I still get that sometimes - subscribing at the mo - but I do prefer Family Circle.0 -

That is very true.... I don't tend to admit to many people that I buy FC because it does have an "older persons" name and image but I have been reading it since I was about 15! (am 32 now). I do read Prima sometimes and I always read my Mum's Good Housekeeping!! In fact.. I have to admit... I rarely buy a magazine unless I know I can pass it on and get "my money's worth" out of it!! Will try Essentials again so thanks for reminding me about it!
Grow your own can be a good magazine... Kitchen Garden magazine is also a good read0 -
I don't get Prima on a regular basis but the Christmas specials they did from about 1996 to 2002 were fantastic and i still dig them out every yearIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

When I was first married I used to get Home and Freezer Digest (now that will date me!) cos it concentrated on recipes and crafts and was small enough to fit into my handbag. I still use some of their recipes now. When that folded I used to get Family Circle now that it going! I am still using a cookie recipe from them from 1990! When Prima first started it was good but now, like Essentials, it seems to concentrate on more glamorous items than cooking, sewing and craft. Oh well I bet that the internet has had something to do with it, cos we can access information from all over now and share our wonderful tips with each other so easily. Grow Your Own
Ah, a girl after my own heartI subscribe to Kitchen Garden, but I might change to Grow Your Own next year
I'm really not into celeb chat/gossip or 1001 ways to have an orgasm so a lot of magazines (in my opinion) are just a waste of money.
Which is the extra one then?
:rotfl:Thank goodness for the internet!!!
Amen to thatWarning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -

Me too! In fact I threw mine out last year when we were building and am missing them already.
Does anyone have the recipe for cheesecake using soft cheese and packet jelly. It is ages since I made it and wanted to do it yesterday for a family visit and couldn't remember it. I remember I used the sponge flans you can buy as a base.0 -

This is the one I get and enjoy it very much. I'll also make a point of popping into Sainsburys once a month to get their magazine - for £1.20 I usually find 2/3 really good recipes in there.0 -
