Would your doctor not refer you to some sort of physio if it is an ongoing problem.?

I can see all sorts comming out of the woodwork of you really can claim free/cheaper gym membership whilst claiming benefits.

I know you can get a discount for swimming at my local Leisure Center by apply for some sort of flexi card. Swimming is great for that kind of thing, i hear.

I'm sure Vicktory was thinking what many of us were, ie !!!!!! - i cant afford to go to the gym and i got to work all week!! You must see where he is comming from.

i kind of know what you are saying,
but as i said if i am entitled to some reduced cost gym/fitness club that will help my back problem whilst on wtc i will take it.

its not about,i dont want to go to work and i want free gym access!

    Certainly sounded like it.

Oh and I am not a troll, you put a post on an open forum and get a reponse you didn't like - tough. Grow up

I would also suggest that you phrase your posts a bit more carefully in future.

    yes,i didnt like your responce!

and i will defend myself seeing as you tried branding me as a "dont want to work","i want it for free" person

    which is totally untrue!

and i will phrase my posts how i like,if people like you with no sence of humour, cant break a smile, over a obvious joke comment once in a while i would suggest that you stay out of conversations like this.

ok,lets give you the real deal.

we dont claim any housing benefit.
we dont claim any council tax benefit.
we dont claim any income support or any others.
my wife works(30 hours+)and pays tax just like you.
i took time out from my job due to health problems.
i work UNPAID as a free, freelance writer for a magazine.(for experience)
i am studying two courses, payed with my own money earned by me when working.
i will be paying for my exam fees with money earned by me when working.

and finally,as i have said if i am "entitled to" help with fitness club costs whilst on a low income i will take it.

i have a history of back problems caused by my previous job.

ask your doctor about the leap scheme whereby you get the gym on perscription for £2.95 a session. whether you have to pay the £2.95 on wtc i don't know, but that is the cheapest i know of to get it, as he reffered me for it.
    p.s i liked your reply.
the government bought in wtc and ctc to help people so why are some people so against it.

    thankyou, bonnie.
i will ask my doctor about that scheme.

some people just dont seem to understand that, WTC stands for "WORKING tax credits"which is avaible for working people on a low income.

It would be cheaper to get an off peak membership then pay £3.00 per session i would think.

Around here it is about £20 per month for sessions limited to during the day - like between 10am - 4pm. No weekends.
Try a hotel with fitness center and you can use the pool too.

yes,£20 a month sounds a good option, thanks.
  • Good luck with everything, Manhattan. Hope you are able to get help with gym costs. Our local council is part of the passport to leisure scheme, where you get most activities for half price if you are on WTC. Hope your council takes part, just pop in the local swimming baths or leisure centre and ask.
    Take care xx
