Silly question, but are we right to assume you have radiators that are heated by an existing gas boiler somewhere in the property?

If not then you will need a complete system.

Thats too cheap. I wouldnt get out of bed to do that job. Be suspicious. Pay peanuts, get monkeys.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

Always makes me laugh that saying!!

Also, no there weren't any rads which we knew but were assured the combi boiler was ready to have rads fitted, also signed form stating there would be a combi boiler in the property! Don't want to go into that too much though as it brings very mixed opinions as to who's in the right to claim/defend!

Does anyone know the actual wholesale price of the boiler/flu/clock that a fitter could aquire them for by any chance?

    flues are 50/100 quid ish.
    clocks are 50/100 quid too.
boilers trade prices , are not much different from the big retail sellars. the internet has changed all that tosh from yrs ago.
    Get some gorm.

There is only one combi that can be continuously used as a water heater only as far I can think of. That is the Intergas. I would have thought this would cost around £1100-£1200 + VAT fitted.

All the others will need radiators fitted, or at least about a 3-6m circuit of 22mm pipe work connected to the heating side.

I'm afraid this is a lot different situation on your hands now. Getting them to pay for a combi is, almost, but not quite, worthless to you in this situation.

Have none of the others who quoted mentioned the lack of radiators?

Telling you there was a combi fitted implies there was a radiator heating system already in place.

Without meaning to be rude the questions about rads etc are off topic, yes we knew the house had no rads but were told it had combi and just needed rads fitting. We've had a new boiler and rads fitted thanks to the cold weather, now we are re-claiming the cost off the sellers for the boiler for lying to us about the fittings in the property!

My only issue is the quote and whether its achievable?

24kw is too small, at least a 30kw for a 4 bed house

We'll see what the court say anyway i guess, the fact is they are only challenging our amount now that they have to go to court, I gave them plenty of time to get alternate quotes, new boilers now fitted, Can't close the stable door when the horse has bolted me thinks!

I put 24kw in a two bedroom terrace, so enough hot water for one tap at a time.
The flow rate for hot water isn't good enough for anything bigger, and no reputable plumber would do it.
In a four bed, you have to allow for at least the ensuite, someone in the kitchen, and then the bathroom as well. Then even a 30kw would struggle.
