Hi All,
Just came back from the High Court in London. Was stupidly easy, 30 mins in the morning and 15 in the afternoon, didn't have to speak to anyone except the lady who took my money.
Please put me on that ... board! BR May 13th!
strangely feels like a bit of an anticlimax after two years of sleepless nights. ah well, I'm sure thinking about the OR calling will lose me one or two hours tonight!0 -
13th May 2010 and I'm glad it's not a Friday.
I didn't need a court appointment, I just turned up at the time allocated for submission of BR Petitions and waited. The counter staff then checked my forms (printed from the online service), took my money and gave a receipt then politely described what would happen.
I sat down and about an hour later my name was called and I was told the order had been signed and I didn't have to see the Judge at all!
There was another wait as it was written up and short telephone conversation with the OR's ofice and that was it.
Total time elapsed about 2hrs.
Now just looking forward to a "natter" with the OR................0 -
Well done to both of you, pleased that it went smoothly for you.:pB&SC No. 298

Had the paperwork come through today from the OR telling me what I need to send off and prepare. Must admit I'm now dreading the interview and have to wait till the 11th June to get over this hurdle.0

I had my court date Monday 10th and was declared bankrupt. Quite an upsetting experience - more the emotion of what I was doing as opposed to anything that happened in court - plus I'm pregnant so I think hormones played a part!! I arrived at the court at 9.30, went through my forms with a really nice lady, then paid my fee (still find it crazy that you have to pay £600 to go bankrupt!!) and then headed up to the courtrooms waiting area. The judge called me in and until this point I had held it together, as soon as he said that I had had a bad couple of years I started crying. He was very nice and said that I had expressed on my form that I felt embarrassed and ashamed to be doing this and that I did not need to feel that way, I was not a criminal and had not done anything wrong. It was nice to hear. He just wanted to clarify my husbands financial situation as it is only me going bankrupt and once he had that info he confirmed the bankruptcy. I couldn't believe it was over so quickly. I came out of judges chambers, cried a bit more with a sympathetic security guard and court usher and then headed back down to get the final forms etc and speak to the OR's office on the phone. A few days on and I am feeling better about Monday's proceedings and have had my phone call today from the OR to arrange our interview next Thursday. I'm nervous about what will happen now - ie car and home but am hopeful for a fresh start. Hopefully not too long before we can put this behind us and get on with our lives. Good luck to anyone else going through this.0
