Is there a patio area your side that you could clean with Jeyes Fluid fairly regulalry, it has quite a pungent aroma and will disguise the smell of dog business wafting over....it can be bought in a spray, so could be sprayed just along the boundary between your gardens....you could maybe ask her, since you are doing yours, would she like you to do hers while you are at it, if she agreed it would certainly sanitise and freshen the area. If she is going to grumble about a bottle going in her rubbish though, it might be that you have to just do what yuo can, your side....or spray a few squirts over on her patio when she is not home...though without her permission, that would not likely be a wise or neighbourly thing to do. Then again, the lady and her son not bothering to clean up the dogs business and sanitise the area, is hardly fair and neighbourly, is it?

Were are currently in the process of getting our garden sorted as it was a right dump when we moved in, we have removed all the paving slabs so dont have anything to spray at our side.

Im seriously considering ringing someone tbh, she has a reasonable sized garden but its just full of rubbish (shes a hoarder and throws nothing away) the dog isnt allowed to go on the grass, infact the grass has some fencing that goes round it, the only place the dog can walk in the garden is gravelled thats just covered in dandelions atm, so the dog, when it is out, barely has any space to roam in, then all this space is covered in dog muck (I have no idea how it doesn't trail it all inside).

As I mentioned earlier about talking to her about when she goes out and leaves her dog out, she said she doesn't do it often but she did it again yesterday, 3 and a half hours of non stop barking and whinning, I know its not as bad as some people have it but its pretty obvious the dog doesnt want to be out, she did say to me the dog doesn't like being left out but she has to leave it out when shes out because she cant trust it as it bumps into everything in the house.

Call the RSPCA and Environmental Health Services at your council. Sometimes people are oblivious to the smell of their pets toilet habits.

If the neighbour is elderly, she might be losing her sense of smell; some elederly people do have a habit of hoarding and do not realise this can lead to other problems and sometimes offer a safe haven to other vermin.

Of course you offer to buy her a doggie loo and install it for her.

The dog needs company, hence the barking. there is also a device on the market you could purchase to help the dog cease barking. it is harmless and sends of sound waves. you press it when the dog starts barking.

Have you offered to take the dog for walkies?

Offering to walk the dog isnt an option for me im afraid as im allergic to fur so I tend to avoid contact with cats and dogs.

To be totally honest with you, I dont see why I should, she has 4 grown up kids, 1 lives with her, another 1 is round 3-4 times a week, they are perfectly capable of walking the dog, I have 2 small children to look after and dont have time to be walking her dog.

I dont want to sound like an evil witch but I believe if you want to have a dog you should be able to give it the attention and excersize it needs.

So do I , and so does every responsible dog owner. Which is why you should now be getting the RSPCA involved.
Oh dear, here we go again.

Just a thought but sweet peas some varieties smell really nice and if your near them say dozen in a pot you can get the aroma from them, although thsi is only temporarily say from late June to early Sept

RSPCA should be involved ASAP, she is clearly not a responsible dog owner, OAP or not. Seriously, I can't even believe you are considering masking the smell!!

you could borrow an idea from Bejing?

Many residents of the Chinese capital appreciate the use of water cannons to spray rubbish tips with deodorant but are concerned that the idea is a stopgap one

    Hi

Im looking for something to cover the smell of my neighbours stinky garden.

My nextdoor neighbour has a dog and as she is quite old she doesn't walk the dog, so the dog does all its business in the garden which isnt cleaned up very often, tbh we have lived here 2 months now and havent once seen anyone doing the poop scoop.

Anyway, everytime we go in our garden all we can smell is the dogs business, mainly dog pee and as everyone will know it stinks, more so on a nice day when its warm, so im looking for something that will give off a nice smell to put along the side of our garden to mask the nasty smell, preferably not something that costs a lot or something that attracts loads of bees or wasps, as me and my daughter are petrified of them.

Im not clued up on flowers/plants so any advice would be great.

    Thanks

Drop a hint and buy her a 'Poopsta'?

Not a daytime solution but great for evenings is Night Scented Stock. I have grown it a few years and the smell is wonderful. Last year I only had room for less than a meter squared in the front garden, yet at its peak I could smell it in the back garden! Plus I found it lasts well in to September (at least in this corner of the UK)
May be worth a try if you plan to use your garden in the evenings too.

I just thought id let you all know ive now been in contact with EH, haven't been able to get in touch with RSPCA yet.

The smell hasnt been too bad this week, its just the noise now, I feel awful telling the dog to shut up because it obviously doesnt want to be outside but the constant barking is giving me a headache.
