Told false information when renewing contract
Has anyone any ideas about getting some sort of compensation from Vodaphone after I renewed a new contract but was told false information. Basically wanted to use my phone in the usa spoke to vodaphone they told me there was a deal that i could get. Phone calls would cost me 75p, from usa, no matter how long the call was. As i wasnt going for another two weeks they said no problem phone up the day before i go and they will activate it. To cut a long story short the deal i signed up for was for use in europe only and there was nothing i could do as i had gone past the two week point. They gave me a deal for usa but it was still over £1 /min. They also didnt tell me i was going to be on a 18 month contract. This happened at the end of Apr. Am i too late, if not any ideas. thanks

Write to their complaints team. Doubt they'll be interested but keep persuing it. Did you get your contract in writing?
Just a question, why are you looking at this 4 months after renewing?? It is very late
 Good luck though.

The Vodafone Passport arrangement applies only on listed Vodafone affiliated networks, so it is very unlikely indeed that they would have described this to you for the USA. Are you really sure that they didn't mention that this was for only some countries and suggest you looked at the list, or did they actually read you the list? I recommended a friend to ask them about it, and the description to him took several minutes even though he told them at the outset that a friend had given a good outline of it.
What is more, the calls may cost 75p per connection of a call up to an hour long, and do actually use up your inclusive minutes for outgoing calls, so your claim that there is no extra charge irrespective of the amount of use is also wildly incorrect, and they would not have said this; do you really expect that you could make a four hour call for only 75p?
Are you too late for what? You won't get any deal that doesn't exist, and I doubt that your claim to have been misled would stand up.
There are no good deals for roaming in USA, whether a UK SIM or one of the global roaming ones. Get a US SIM card to use in an unlocked phone, then use a calling card with it for UK-bound calls0

thanx for your message redux when i phoned up about renewing my contract i said that i was going to the USA and i was looking for a deal for cheaper calls back to the UK. He never mention anything about a list he said that Vodaphone Passport was the best one it was only when i phoned the day before i went, that i was told it only worked in europe. then i was told a supervisor would phone me back that never happened so i phoned them again. i took the deal that they offered then as i was due to leave in a few hours and had to get some rest but they never said anything bout a 18 month contract either. when i said am i too late i meant am i too late to do anything about it.0

I'm afraid it does happen in the call centres that mis information is passed on, I only realised now that the passport is not valid for all countries...I was told it was.....0

Vodafone Passport is a free option on any current contract or pay-as-you-talk deal.
So the involuntary 18 month contract is probably a separate issue. However, it is not available on all contracts, like discontinued tariffs. If your old tariff plan had the Passport option, then there was no need to make any changes at all.
The friend I mentioned before changed tariff plan to an up-to-date (and better value) one that did have the option but did not take out a new contract at the same time. One was offered, but he said he would consider it a bit later when he had more time to look into newer phones; there was no compulsion.0

Voda would have sent you the contract paperwork shortly after you had taken the contract out, that if you would have actually read would have told you that your contract was an 18 month contract. At this point you should have called and sorted it out

I think that should read "Voda should have sent you......
I have never received any contract information from Vodafone following the upgrade of my contract. They had 12 months to send it out, after the third time I stopped asking....the contract is now up for renewal again.....again, they don't always send out the paperwork.

I understand the passport option is free but had i known at the time that it wouldnt of worked in the usa i would never have taken it. The guy who told me about it said it would work in the usa and never mentioned anything about lists0

When I mentioned a list, I meant the Vodafone website lists the countries where it is usable, together with the other details of the Passport scheme. These details would also be described on the phone to someone expressing an interest.
I've re-read your posts and I realise I was wrong that the contract renewal was involuntary, as you clearly say you rang up about renewing it.0
