one has given me :-
You are currently paying £2,073.88 a year for gas and £1,459.96 a year for electricity based on a consumption of 54917kWh for gas and 10488kWh for electricity with ScottishPower.
and EON offer annual £2223.01 via FIX ONLINE v8 DUAL FUEL0 -
does that sound reasonable?
I will get my mum to ring them and get exact usage figures as well0 -
If you keyed in this quarters it won't be accurate, as you don't use the same each quarter and this is probably the most expensive quarter out of the year. TO give you an indication - the comparisons I was doing the other day, which had a similar quarterly bill, had a total annual bill on a standard tariff of £2468 combined. That's for a 5 bedroom house which is also run as a B&B so has some massive usage (e.g there are 4 electric showers, all used espec during summer)
All the comparison sites are doing is multiplying one quarter by 4 ( according to your figures) and that's not even vaguely accurate!0 -
True thankyou for your help does my mum just ring up quote accoutn and ask for yearly usage0

Yup, either that or dig out her last years bills and take the usage in kwh for the last 4 quarters, add em together and use that.0

Do you have a cannibis farm in the house ?
you are using 3 times more than the uk average consumption. even the gas usage is twice as much as the uk average.
Something is not right with that unless you stay in a huge mansion. His Heart Proved He Was A RedSuarez, SuarezWe Bought The Lad From AmsterdamWe Know He's Not a Chelsea Fan.Fernando Torres = El Judas0 -
H graemewh - With dad too ill to do what he used to do and mum having to tackle all this for the first time, I can see your problem.
1) Ask mum to make a search of dad's paperwork to see if he saved past bills - You will need at the very least, the last 4 bills
2) If the bills cannot be found, write to Scot. Power asking for copies, they have to supply them if asked - Don't rely on figures quoted over the phone by Scot.Power
3) When you have bills add up the consumptions over a full year - It's likely the bills won't cover an exact 365 days, so adjust your figure by taking the daily use on the last bill and add or subtract that figure by the number of days you are short or over the full year
4) Armed with these annuual readings, do the rounds of the Switch sites - I always start with 'Switchwithwhich'.0 -
Thankyou,
Another question our boiler for our water and heating the pilot light keeps firing up every minute or so despite the thermostat for both the water and heating being low, I understand when water is switched on then the light will fire up and when this happens obviously the meter spins b ut it seems to do this alot and if you count up that over a day id assume that the meter would go round an awful lot more than its suppose to, it may sound like a silly question but is this normal?0 -
I have calculated the last 4 bills and it comes to
7744 electricity
32300 gas
does this seem alot?0 -
just done switch which and came up N power the best with annual saving of £396 but has all different calculations etc so Im not sure do I just asume this is better and switch to this one?0
