Butchers- Where to get cheap quality meat!?

I had been using McGees ever since it opened. It always did cost more but the meat was lovely so I didn't mind paying extra. However in the past 6 months the place has gone downhill (in my opinion). The meat now is no better than anywhere else. They have opened in Asdas and this is maybe where the problem lies.
I have since taken my business to Corries at Ballyhackamore.0 -
Not sure if this will work at your local butchers but it does at mine..
My local butchers is one of the old style types with a butchers block in the centre and they cut the meat for you there and then. If I go in last thing on a saturday afternoon and ask for a couple of lbs of braising steak I get a "Clear the block" bag which usually consists of everything left on the block (almost everything OTHER than braising steak)
I've had 2 sirloin steaks chopped up, a piece of topside, a massive "slab" of rump steak and other nice cuts chopped up and charged as braising steak.
Sure its chopped up but I get a bargain everytime I ask for it and its always lovely, sometimes I just pick bits out of it and grill them like I would normal steak. Might be worth a try!Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -

I acually heard that myself, the cost is the main thing. I don't want the worst quality meat but aslong as it doesn't give me food poison and tastes good I don't mind!
Where bouts is that on the cregagh road? I'm gunna try st georges on Friday. What time does it start at does anyone know, I start work at 9am!“A house is made of walls and beams;a home is built with love and dreams.”2012 Challenge to buy most gifts and non essentials from money made online.:money:0 -

Its at the top of the cregagh. If you know where the flats are @ greenway its there beside the post office. I would go down to st georges once every few months and its open at 7.30 whenever I go down.
I'll give that a try thanksI'll also try st georges before work on Friday (gunna have a nightmare parking) anyone recommend somewhere to park thats close by as I have to get back to work for 9!
Thanks for the advice people, I don't think my local butcher would do that saturday thing for me (he's an expensive cheapskate) that's why I have to travel elsewhere lol0 -
