Butchers- Where to get cheap quality meat!?

Options
Hi all,
Does anyone know where I can get good quality meat from near Belfast/Newtownabbey. I usually go upto Ballynure butchers but I usually have to end up spending £40+ a week. Anyone know any good places? :)

Thanks,
James.

  • 'Cheap' invariably rules out the chances of the meat being 'quality', imo.

McGee's Butchers at Forestside are good.

They have one in Bloomfields in Bangor as well, very good quality.
The's also Primacy Meats just up from Bloomfields.Have you tried the Chinese supermarket on the Ormeau Rd?
That's quite good for prawns ext.
The's always St Georges Market as well.

I believe it's actually in the shopping center itself,as for St Georges,I think it's on a Friday morning but parking's a b-itch at around there when it's on.You best bet would be to park in The Mount just over the bridge off Castlereagh Street & bimble over to the market. That's what I do.

St georges is good but it normally means an early start and rubbish parking. I would use Billys at the cregagh road flats. He is great value and I am always happy with the produce. I personally am not at all fussed on McGees and think that if you are wishing to cut back on your spending McGees is certainly the wrong place to go as its really over priced (imo).

I'd rather have a big juicy steak than a pathetic salad :D thanks for the advice though :D

I acually heard that myself, the cost is the main thing. I don't want the worst quality meat but aslong as it doesn't give me food poison and tastes good I don't mind!

Where bouts is that on the cregagh road? I'm gunna try st georges on Friday. What time does it start at does anyone know, I start work at 9am!
