2nd'ed.
Everyone has their right to their own opinion, but the OP was asking for advice, and that post wasn't helpful and would be better placed in a new thread for people to discuss without derailing a genuine request for help.
Anyway, to answer the OP, in the weddings I've been too, the place cards have had first name & last name.0 -
tbh i would have found that helpful! i wish someone would have told me that the place cards didnt matter! spent ages making mine and noone took a blind bit of notice of them on the day"I have learnt that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one""You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.”Maya Angelou0

we had a table plan as well as placemats so they looked at the table plan and just sat anywhere on there table...."I have learnt that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one""You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.”Maya Angelou0

Sorry OP- just I think I may be the only Bride in the world who finds weddings a total waste of money- i just cannot wait to be married to my OH but find the fluff that goes with it too mundane for words- so I honestly am interested and want to ask all the brides on this forum........WHY does any of it matter if you are marrying the man of your dreams how can you possibly care about place mats? Am i really missing something here? My MIL certainly seems to think so!!
nope i dont think ur missing anything! i wish i hadnt spent so much time worrying about the little details as none of it mattered on the day!"I have learnt that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one""You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.”Maya Angelou0 -
i hope they take notice of mine too, if people just sit wherever they want at my tables, they probably wont know the person sitting next to them. im not a lot of + partners during the day and i know some people will feel intimidated not knowing anyone if they dont sit in their seat.
i think table plans are there not only to help your guests mix but also to put people together who already know each other so theyre not like a wallflower0 -
when ever i go to wedding i take the place card i still have the last 5 wedding i went too.

I'm just putting the first names of my guests - we have lots of Johns so John. H or John. R etc.
Funny how some folk are quick to be critical isnt it, everyone's entitled to their opinion and all that, but its a bit of a shame really. Makes you wonder why some people join a wedding forum if the "fluff that goes with it is too mundane for words":eek:
Back to topic, I'd be gutted if no-one noticed my place cards -I'd like to think its the little touches that will make the day even more memorable and its something nice I wanted to do for my guests.

HTB is currently printing out the names which are glued to the 'seat' of the chair. Have made 54 in total!
Good luck Loony
