Just decluttering a mug of tea in between clothes loading reloading folding etcI have decluttered 19 Cigarettes and a lighter from DD1's handbag. I asked her 10 days ago if she was smoking and she promised me she wasn't.
She has several friends who smoke and whenever she comes in stinking of smoke it's Carl, abi, suzy etc. comes out of her mouth.
We've had a busy day, football in the freezing cold this morning. DS2 won 1-0. Taking DD1 to work and painting the DS3 and DD2's bedroom (Pigpen you've inspired me!) DH picked her up at 4pm and she said she was going out for a walk at 5.15 and I was immediately suspicious. She was gone half an hour and came in and went straight to her room. When they were eating tea I went into her room to declutter the cups and glasses and the cigs were sitting there on the top of her bag. My reasoning is as she says she doesn't smoke then she can't ask where they have gone. In addition to this she has borrowed £40 from DH and I am livid to think that it is being spent on Cigs.
Was I right to confiscate the Cigs? What is more important the fact that she lied to me last week or that fact that she is borrowing money to smoke?
Oh yes and my flying today....
4 x W/M including sopping wet football kit!
Ss kitchen x 3 today - how much mess can one family make!!!
I dont think once they start that they will stop whatever their parents tell them, especially if there is a lot of peer pressure. If my DS started to smoke I would sit him down and try and find out why then I would set ground rules along the lines of- not in front of me or his sister or in the house
- he pays for them himself
- he cannot expect me to pay for stuff for him that he would normally be spending his EMA on if he is spending it on fags
- he is aware of the impact that smoking could have in his later life (including showing pics of cancerous lungs etc)
- definitely no lying about it

Pigpen I don't know how you cope with everything that you get thrown at you. You are amazing.
Sexy wowwww that dress is beautiful!! And you are going to look absolutely amazing for your wedding, I bet you are excited!
Mumto5 How old is your DD? I think I'd go with the lying as the major issue, and the borrowing as an extension of the lying IYSWIM, but I don't really know, I don't have kids.
Hugs to Lady-L, Diva, Toots, and everyone else who needs one

Helloooo
I'm popping in here before I go join the new thread
I'm so pleased with myself and my DS's - we managed to move those fridge freezers together yesterday plus they helped me move a Welsh Dresser from one spot to another in our kitchen and the biggest thing - they helped me move an old fashioned hefty piano from the kitchen into the living room! So proud of them
Mumto5 - maybe take your daughter to a hospital or somewhere that will show the damage caused by smoking and will have an impact on her? It sounds harsh but I speak sadly as a smoker - I started at the age of 15 and wish my parents had done that for me. But while we are on the subject my Stop Smoking date is 23rd August and you can all hold me to that if you like
Jinks - Hope your gran heals quickly hunny x
Love and hugs to all - see you on the next thread
