I could replace the battered old coat hooks for one with a shelf included though...that could have a few extra bits on top...like a couple of my mini hatboxes...

What about these from Ikea http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/60099791"]HERE and http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/90140063"]HERE

I know where you are coming from with the size of your hall and yours sounds even smaller than mine. Mine is the width of the door and a small side bit to the door and about 5 foot deep

For shoe storage I have a shelving unit on with wicker basket for each child's shoes (I am a childminder) can't find it on the site though now.

2 hours of gardening and potting on done, cold out there, but not raining at the time.

Chatted to OH, via MSN, it seems he is having a good time.

I'm that cold I think I'm going to have to put the heating back on

DS2's head injury.. Tiddles (she was in bed asleep when it happened) said OH did it.. in fact, OH was ushering DS2 up to bed when DS2 had a tantrum like a 2 year old (which is normal for DS2).. and clung to the door frame.. so OH lifted him up the step into the hallway as DS2 let go of the door frame the momentum took him straight into the under stair cupboard.. so it was a total accident, DS2 told me several times it was an accident and explained to me what had happened.. and OH confirmed his story with his own version being identical.. they were questioned separately. Had I any concern it had been deliberate OH would have been packed and out of her by Thursday morning, Squeak or no Squeak!!

But I can see KH having SS on my doorstep now.. another hassle for me.. though I shall be in touch with the solicitor first thing Tuesday.

Hope DS2 is ok now. I guess if KH has any real concerns, he won't be foregoing his weekend contact to suit his social life, will he ;) Guess he just wanted a chance to shout at you, but what a way to show himself up!

Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x

There is still a big pile to sort - stuff which is being kept for sentimental reasons but there could be a bit too much sentiment up there!

I've just had a similar experience in our bedroom. 4 shelves of the huge built-in wardrobe were full of DS1's stuff and other things. They're now cleared and re-stocked with photos (waiting to be sorted), towels and clothes. I've sorted through things from when DS1 was tiny and thrown lots out - the rest has been re-arranged and put back. DS2 has gladly taken possession of action man toys and lego. It made his day and he played happily for ages.

Just had cuppa and cake, but need to carry on now. I have 4 hours to: sort through all the stuff that's come out of the wardrobe, cook shepherd's pie, get in the bath, do homework with DS2 and get ready to go out.

Thanks, toots - It's not very likely, as they are both as stubborn as each other. One is waiting for an apology and the other is thinking in terms of 'hell' and 'freezing over'. Nothing I've said and done so far has made a difference and they've got an easy life this way. DS1 doesn't have to deal with his dad's teasing and attempts at discipline, and DH vents to me when he's not happy with DS1, but doesn't get involved with him at all. I'm not good at confrontation, and the moment never seems right to get them together to talk without DS2 around.

Ok, best carry on, as I really don't want to share my bed with action man and his mates tonight.

    Hello everyone.

I have S&S'd but not much else. I have finally hoovered :o. I would still die of pure shame if we had an unannounced visitor :o.

My knee has the most impressive bruise from landing on the towbar. I seem to be determined to self-destruct atm. I get clumsier when I am tired is my only excuse. The beam whacking headache has finally gone at least so you can now fling mules/shout at me.

DH is working hard on the family BR to be. We bought the suite and the floor months ago, this spend was boring stuff like pipes and more exciting stuff like tiling the walk in shower - we went for big white tiles that will be broken up with bands of gold mosaic. The main walls will be whitewashed tongue and groved to waist height, with (probably) green/eu de nil farrow and ball above, and the suite is suitably victorian even if I couldn't have the freestanding cast iron bath I wanted. The floor is whitewashed oak. It will be beautiful after living with avacado and manky 70s tiles for the last 3.5 years .
