just seen the guy and he only wants £500 for it:beer:, maybe he has got confused with engine size as he is only a young whipper snapper, but to suggest that he has told me it is a zaffira and it is actually going to turn out to be a frontera, i think even a 19 year old could tell the difference as they are completly different shape veichles for one:cool:, and as for saying i not seen it, i have not seen it to look over yet, but have seen him in it driving it, and it is most definetly a zaffira, as i said he only uses it for pulling his speedboat which he has done the maximum of 3 times, he does not like driving it, and he is going to look at purchasing a jeep tomorrow, as he used to have a jeep before which went up to the scrap heap in the sky 2 months ago, and has wanted one ever since, so brought this zafira as a stop gap to him finding a jeep at a reasonable price, he is only going to sell it to me at this price because he is a mate and he knows i am desperate for a car of this size(well actually that makes it sound worse), well he going to look at jeep tomorrow and knowing my luck it will be a pile of junk anyway, but of course when the oppurtunity arises i will be having it checked out, !!! £500 may not seem alot to some people but it is a hell of a lot for us to go around wasting, the only thing he says that is wrong with it costmetically is a small dent the size of a 1p in the back which for a 13/14 year old car would expect far worse, and he says it goes like a dream, but as i say i will be having it checked out as have not got money to waste on something that is only going to last 5 minutes, but hopefully tomorrow evening i should be a proud owner of a zaffira

and the reason why it was so cheap was because he brought it at auction, the guy who had it before owed £500 on it, and could not afford to pay it, so the finance company took it back off him and sold it at auction, only really wanting the £500 owed on it, so my mate snapped it up, he also says he was there last week when a 52 plate diesel with only 32,000 on the clock went through at just under a grand, wish i was there because i would have snapped that one up

This is getting more worrying by the minute. I used to go to auctions a lot but was never once told by the auctioneer that a car was reposessed by a finance company and how much was owed on it.
Your being spun a line. Avoid this like the plague.

So why come on here asking us if you're so confident of its history and that you're going to get it checked out fully before buying?

OBVIOUSLY its cheap. But it does sound too good to be true.

    +1

And how often have you heard of what seems like the 'perfect' car for resale being sold at such a knock down price at auction?

Why would anyone let a car worth an easy £1500 be repossessed when you owe just £500?

Why would it be sold at auction for such a low price?

Why would the finance company tell the auction company how much was owing on it?

Why would you buy a FWD Zafira for towing a speedboat?

Why would you not know how big the engine was in your car?

Why would you let it go for such a knock down price?

Where is this auction that sells cars at a fraction of their value compared to every other auction in the country and why would anyone sell cars there, knowing how little they make?

The point is there is no such car as a 2.5 litre Zafira diesel and it would seem rather odd that the owner doesnt know that.

Early ones were 1.9TDs and later cars were 2.0DI's.

Also, this car seems very cheap. Too cheap TBH.

1.9s came in on the next zafira-highest cc is 2.2.Cetainly no 2.5s. One other thing I wouldnt class early zafiras as 7 seaters but 6 because the middle belt will be a lap belt and I wouldnt put anybody in a lapbelt.
Went shoplifting at the Disneystore today.

Got a huge Buzz out of it.

Something is very very wrong avoid like the plague. It is far too cheap and the cambelt job would cost over 200 quid in a garage alone.

I suspect that finance may be owed on it but an HPI check would show that.

If he's your mate, buy it. Good car for a very good price. And without knowing which engine I wouldn't comment on the cambelt, it's more likely a timing chain.
Post back with the engine if you buy it.

the cam belt cost £60 odd as is best mate is a mechanic so fitted it free gratis, and in all honesty is only selling it to me at this price as he knows i need a car, and i have not got loads of money to play with, and he just wants rid, he knows if he kept hold of it he would probably get alot more for it if he advertised it, but he is just being a mate, and now i feel like i am going to be taking advantage of him, if it is ok and i buy it:o:D
